I’m a complete fashion magazine FREAK and always feel compelled to buy a ton of them, most of them being either exhorbitantly priced or in languages that I don’t even read and most are just another downright mediocre. Well a while back, my lovely arty sister introduced me to one of the BEST and most refreshing magazines I’ve ever encountered.
This magazine ticks all the boxes of great fashion, music, art and best of all – the free gift. Magazine freebies are never all that great – Elle for instance is offering a particuarly delactable faux PVC tote in gold, silver or bronze which smells like wet fish. Hmmmm!
Amelia’s however gave out Tatty Devine necklaces and removable art covers. The latest issue has
been a complete joy for me – a scratch n’ sniff cover and a pack of perfumed felt tip pens to do some colouring in with! Bus journeys are no longer boring as hell.
Fashion wise, it covers REALLY underground designers – spikjers and spikjers, Yuko Yoshitake, Basso and Brooke. Music wise, well – Art Brut, British Sea Power, Shout Out Louds…….. as I said, definitely gets my vote in the indie stakes!
Best of all, Amelia collaborates with some of the cutest illustrators and more innovative stylists and every issue just looks very carefully and lovingly crafted together.
Yes, it is pricey, but honestly, it’s more like a book than a magazine. There have only been 4 issues and so they have become rather like collectors items – but their website is selling issues no. 3 and 4 if you want to lay your hands on them. Alternatively, check out the stockists to see where you can get some Amelia love!

Hi Veronica,
The magazine is originally British. I just checked the stockists page, they seem to stock it in all the countries next to Holland – Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg but not in Amsterdam!! You can buy it online though. Shipping is not £4 worldwide I think.
