Musical chairs was never all that fun for me. I was a slow mo who never got to sit down and was never the last one left over. Boo hoo. However, those woeful days are gone and I have a feeling that my reaction to the music will yield me better things this time round at the next Swap-a-Rama Razmatazz come 10th May (there’s one tomorrow as well if you make it sharpish). Simple idea really. Bring your unwanted rags and see what you get in return when at the sound of Klaxons, you do an impulsive swap with the person next to you. It seems to end up in a messy orgy of mis-matched clothes but that’s precisely the sort of random, throwaway thing I would do with the piles of clothes that I’ll never wear again, don’t fit me anymore or were just plain mistakes. I wonder if there’s some sort of a way of picking someone who is likely to have covetable rags. Will people dread sitting next to me with my reject clothes. Nevertheless, I hope I’m better at playing clothes swapsies than musical chairs.

This sounds like so much fun. I have got to research & see if there’s something similar in Seattle.
This is such a cool idea. I doubt there are any in Canada though…

I’ve been to a couple of clothing swaps put on by Wendy Tremayne, who helps organizes these things all around the U.S. Check out upcoming swaps here:

I think the Swaporama’s are a different concept, though; you give the people who are running the swap a bag of your unwanted clothing; they then toss your clothes into big piles which are sorted according to category (skirts, dresses, shirts, etc.), so your clothes are lost in a jumble of other peoples’ clothing. It’s actually rather edifying to anonymously observe someone else try on and strut around in your clothes …
Sounds perfect- I always feel guilty throwing away my old clothes… no matter how horribly disgusting they may be

I was just looking at the dates for an upcoming Swap-o-rama (U.S. style). There will be one at the Maker Faire May 19 and 20 in the San Francisco Bay Area — this year I very much hope to make it!
Here is a photo shoot I did with the tops I designed, called “Summer Mood”.

Please do check it out if you have time and leave your critique.
Thanks, have a great day looking pretty chic!

klaxons? the shirt off a stranger’s back? yes yes yes. if new york doesn’t already have this, it’s going to now. xo
anyone else in vancouver feel like they would want to organize a clothes swap?
i’ve been trying to come up with a way to do this for a while but so far none of my friends feel the same way about clothes… they’re all “no way would i ever get rid of something… i’m too attached.” pfft. they have no idea what they are missing out on. currently, i do…
I love this idea, its so clever, so enviro conscious (recycling clothes) and so FUN ! I would love to try this one day. But, what does one do if the clothes dont fit you ?
hm, does anyone know about swaps in the Vienna (Austria) area?
