Go dolls, go go go!

The small but decent New York Fashion Now exhibition at the V&A didn’t really shed much light in terms of insight for me but I did get some good eyefuls of outfits which I will post either on an external page or on Flickr. The one thing I found fascinating was this video clip of As Four’s ‘Puppencouture’ presentation in 2000 (this clip was taken in the Purple Institute in Paris but the original presentation was in New York).  Of course, As Four is now known as Three As Four.  Instead of using fashion models, miniature versions of the outfits were fitted onto mini hula wind-up dolls and then unleashed at random.  If you watch the video, mute the volume and put on a computer Pac-Man esque soundtrack, it’s pretty funny to watch.  If you’re not stupidly childish then the concept of fashion racing around at a mad pace bumping into each randomly gives a little something to think about too.
