Getting zippy with it!

I must have an affinity with things that have a ‘ippy’ sound at the end as it was only a few months ago that I wrote a post titled ‘Getting hippy with it.‘ and now I’m all about about being ‘zippy.’  This season is calling for everyone to get zippy with it.  Zips on dresses, jackets, boots and bags. The obvious label to look towards getting a zippified bag would be Charlott Vasberg, someone I talked up a while ago and is famous for her signature twist zip bags.  However, Vasberg has stepped away from her love affair with zips and moved onto rivets and old fashioned clasps.  Not that rivets are bad either but I want zips damnit!

Borba Margo (designed by Jessika Margo Goransson and Anderson Borba Da Silva), got a lot of web-attention for their use of oversized safety pins but two seasons ago but for AW07-8, to my delight, they have run away with zips on a series of belts, bum and body bags.  In addition to the zips, they have mixed it up with old fashioned clasps as well. I think these were intended for fidgetors like me who like to open and close those clasps (don’t they make a satisfying *click* sound?).  By unzipping the zips in different ways, the forms of the bags and belts change too…. even better.

I’m also yipping and yapping that leather gloves are here to stay for a while and combining them with zips like thus….well, it’s just ziptastic….

  1. Anything even remotely zippy and I’m there! Fall out from my punk days I suppose. Some people are instantly attracted to sequins and shiny things well with me it’s zips.

  2. The bag with belt is supercool, I saw something similar at both Topshop and H&M, however the down side was the unzipping process which is suppose to be the fun and magical part for me, sadly they did not form a belt or bag. You seem to come up with new words everytime, today’s word is “Ziptastic!”…me likey

  3. I just discovered your AMAZING blog (I think I did a search for Prada stockings) and I am very impressed with the world of British fashion. I am from suburban Pennsylvania and have already “discovered” dozens of new brands (berube, Cristine Bec), it’s just that damn currency conversion that i despise!

  4. i just bought some very cool black and white zebra print square tip ballet flats!! I LOVE them but am bit unsure of HOW to wear them, they do attract quite some attention, would it still be ok to wear them with formal stuff and girly dresses etc or just all black?? thanks heaps 😀
