Mad Bag Hag

baglady.jpg

A friend who joked about using the Mulberry Roxanne super large patent tote to parachute off a building because of its sheer size led to a few minutes of deranged picture snapping with me wearing my Topshop oversized tote with patent triangles as a halterneck mini mini dress.  It was also a coincidence that the straps at the side of the bag happened to fit around my bust to fasten at the back.  I knew it would happen but I didn‚Äôt know it would be like this.  My obsession with patent triangles which I‚Äôve been lusting after since Gareth Pugh‚Äôs more wearable line of attire hit the shops and combined with my love of wearable bags a la Yohji Yamamoto x Mandarina Duck‚Äôs bag dress has all culminated and come to head in this moment of madness.  In the name of sanity, do NOT mistake this as an outfit that I‚Äôm about to step out in public in as I have indeed still got all of my marbles.  Although…. and excuse the curiosity of the brain… belted around over a tighter dress that covers the butt….hmmmm…. oh dear god….and the madness begins again….

  1. wow, that’s a bag? it’s huuuuuuuuuuuuuuge!!! and – why not wear it over a tighter dress? sounds good! (yeah, as long as it covers the bottom)

  2. Look… Kimmy… I will just ban your IP address because you insist on leaving really pointless/bizarro comments saying I’ve lost weight/gained weight… if you have anything constructive to say… then say it… but this is just getting beyond silly…

  3. The sad thing is, I scrolled straight to the picture without reading the text and my first thought was, “Wow, that’s a super cute jumper…H&M?”

  4. OK thanks alot, now I want a dress like this, which doesn’t even exist…;)
Maybe I should quit complaining and just make one…off to the fabric store to buy some shiny PVC!
(and yeah, what’s up with those comments kimmy, spare time much?)

  5. Susie, not hoping to encourage banal weight comments but you look amazing even whilst wearing a bag!

  6. A dress could easily be fashioned by your super skills Angie… you knows it!
    Socks are Prada…
Allii: From afar, one could easily be tricked!
    Ed: Thanks!
I’m just plain perplexed by Kimmy… I sneakily checked out her IP and she hails from Brazil, the same country where supposedly a fashion editor has slated me for being fat and chubby in a local magazine… haven’t a clue whether this is true or not but I’m weirded out nonetheless….

  7. hello susie!
Very excited that you have taken to wearing a bag (i have not seen that coming!) and surprisingly, it looks very wearable.
I’d like to add that the smile on your face seems to spell how much fun you’re having, which is fab.
About the Kimmy comment – that is plain irksome. You should just mentally throw poison letters into the fire.

  8. 🙂 I would have thought that was an actual dress if you hadn’t have said anything.Nice bag btw, bigger is always better when it comes to bags ,I don’t understand how girls can carry around tiny little purses and fir everything they need into them.

  9. Ha ha ha, Susie, you are so much fun, this is why we all love you!!! Funny enough, it actually looks quite nice!!!

  10. oh susie! you are so fearless when it comes to fashion. I would not have known that was a bag. I had to go back up and reread the sentences to make sure. I bet you can fit tons and tons of stuff in that bag 😀

  11. I love this!
How original…and the socks are fab…I have a pair of similar ones in purple hues.

  12. I looked at the pictures before I read the post and thought it was a fun new dress. Love it, and would love to see someone on the street wearing a bag as if it was normal – almost like the glammed up version of a potato sack.

  13. Cut the bottom off and wear it! I think its fabulous, great imagination Susie. You rock my socks

  14. It’s a nice take on the idea of putting ‘everything but the kitchen sink’ into a bag…now you can put yourself in too! 🙂
And never mind the haters, you look great- I’d have believed the bag was an actual dress too, were it not for the text.

  15. Once again, I must profess my admiration for your fashion guts and creativity. This could totally work and I’m so much in love with that bag. I’m so desperate for it, I’m willing to attempt making it 😛
So the bag is canvas? Where can I find black canvas in fashion barren Puerto Rico…
