In all two years of Style Bubble blogging days, I don’t think I’ve talked about many truly French-bred fashion talent. Despite Paris being the international epicentre of fashion, the number of up and coming fashion labels that actually originate from France (like, technically BORN in the land!), as opposed to designers from all around the world using Paris as a base’, are fewer in comparison to say the United Kingdom or Scandinavia. With a name like Baron Baronne, you couldn’t really mistake this label for anything but being Parisian (the first thing that came to mind was of course the famous nightclub Le Baron… and some sort of wordplay on its sister club Paris Paris). Baron Baronne is made up of Chambre Syndicale in Paris grads Sibylle Genin and Lambert Perera Cortes who have also been working for people like John Galliano and Anne Valerie Hash. They’re also young ones’, aged 21 and 23, so to venture out with their own label at such an early stage is quite impressive.
Ease of wear is what a lot of French ‘household’ brands like A.P.C., Petit Bateau or Comptoir de Cotonniers to ver well. Or perhaps they go down a prettier route, par example – Vanessa Bruno, Antik Batik and Cacharel. ‘Quirk’ and something slightly ‘odd’ is not something that I see often in French labels so with this AW08-9 collection made of pretty tuxes, straight down and up lines whilst still being restrained, it seems Baron Baronne can combine the strange and easy-to-wear easily.
The colours are so sparse but strong. The combination of pale blue and bordeaux is especially striking especially evident in the backs (can’t stop harping on about the importance of backs…).
Navy and royal blue added in also works as a great contrasts with that bordeaux and the richness is accentuated with the fabrics.
The shoes are also made by Baron Baronne so you won’t be without the finishing touches to complete what is a very particular ‘look’.
The assymetric details and a looseness in shape that goes beyond what most women are comfortable with so it ends up being a little comedic but there’s still subtlety. I sort of like that Baron Baronne takes the femme tux a step up…
Baron Baronne may be turning the tables a little in young French fashion but essentially, that same quality of insouciance (a word that is fascinating/irritating me a lot these days…) that magazines like Jalouse portray, is still needed to pull the clothes off. Definitely requires further investigation when I’m next in Paris…

I shall have to take a look at this label. I love that effortless chic the French do so well.
great label. love the clothes but the shoes are eye catchers too.
Interesting collection, fairly stark and sculptured. I don’t think just anyone would be able to pull these designs off, but on the right person I think they could really stand out well.
LOVE this stuff.. Nice find-Paris has been waiting a long time for some new talent, London is where it’s at right now!!
For the pics displayed here, I like it a lot. Especially the attention, they pay to details (very Chambre Syndicale) and tailoring.
i like the tailored look of the clothing, my favorite look is the burgundy dress with the white pleated inlay. you could definitely pull these looks off susie:)
is it just me, or is their model quite short (for a model, not for normal people)? as a shorty myself i dig it.
I’m definitely with the rest of you – a strong first collection. And Susie, despite the fact that you liken it to the safe household brands like Comptoir des Cotonniers, I see this as being a lot more puchy. The deconstructed tux reminds me a lot of Lanvin menswear this season.
Also, the bright patent shoes remind me of the neon patent macs that Prada did this time last year. I wonder where the duo are getting their design influences?
Such bright shoes, but they complete the look so well 🙂 Some interesting looks there.
Thank you very much Susie for this coment to BaronBaronne. And thank you for the coments They are you whom they make us advance in we work!
