Meet the Kling characters to the left. They are the characters that Karolina Kling were daydreaming about and using her graphic designer background, she has taken those characters and let them run wild (in a controlled way of course…) in her AW08-9 collection, the third by her label Kling by Kling.
By basing the patterns on these characters and having the patterns transplanted onto clothes which both cocoon and billow out from the wearer, Karolina Kling is trying to ‘fββrstβΒ§rka’ (Kling is from Gothenberg, Sweden and now lives in London), meaning to amplify/heighten the feeling of being in a dream when things like a pattern can feel warped or overwhelming.
I’m rather up for a voluminous patterned cocoon to wear with nothing but a vest underneath and some mighty-tighty black latex leggings (will be doing an investigation on the best ones out there in a few weeks time…) and some high-tops (yes, I have returned to my trainers roots and will be hunting for some new ones). I don’t flinch from doing the 180 from florals to cartoon graphic patterns…. that’s quite worrying…

wooh, love the kling characters! and your planned outfit sounds inspiring!
i would so buy a bag if she ever made any in that print!
I love so much your site and your work, a make a link to your site in my blog π
nooo susie make a post about the best latex leggings nooooow! my ebay-ed pair have become really patchy and a need a replacement post haste but need some reviews!.. please? π
really like the graphics, but I don’t see how it would work on a daily basis.. Maybe an accessory line would be easier to wear (especially if you take into consideration that I am a teacher, everybody would think I have gone mad!)
interesting graphics.
interesting graphics.
Im loving the paper cut outs on a stick!
I have an H&M dress that definitely looks to have been inspired by Kling. I blogged about it after reading your post. Uncanny. An eerie case of those high up being spot on with trends down below.
The site’s a hoot…esp the more extensive look at graphics…even the ambient sounds! The other pics in your post though – where are they from? – really love the combined pattern assault of background and clothing!
I am a artist/painter and I read your feed for the visuals. For me fashion is art.
how cute! Those are very charming, definitely remind me of childhood imaginary friends π

these are beautiful, but I don’t think I could live without colors.
I like the way these pictures were shot as much as I like the shapes and prints of the actual items.
Where have the models with presence gone ?
The theme is an old hat, too.
