Firstly I must apologise to the 70 or so students that were present at the talk myself and Alistair, digital director of Dazed gave at UCA Epsom… with the questionable painkillers and anti-inflammatory medicine I'm taking, I turned up in the boyf's shirt and a skirt that has seen better days… and basically sounded a little stop-and-start. Thank god Alistair was there…
Still, it was good to get to a fashion school campus as it reminded me of the upcoming Graduate Fashion Week in June 2009 with which I have a special project up… more shall be revealed later. UCA Epsom is of course part of GFW's line-up… and their front reception window gave me much to ponder about with regards to my favourite gift wrapping material…BROWN PAPER! I was half tempted to rustle and touch the hanging dresses in the window…
Wow, I love the one of the bustier, frilled dress. Brown paper indeed!
No way, those are made with brown paper bags? They are beautiful! I love this kind of art! Making beautiful things out of materials that otherwise would be trashed… just perfect!
Wow these are really amazing!
wow I was having doubts about paper dresses after seeing the Oasis display, but these are rather amazing…
Some of the dresses look like they’re made out of metal or something- I can’t believe theyre just made out of paper!!!

I’ve been seeing a lot lately about what to do with brown paper, some really cool ideas. My favorite was a bio tube bench, but I can’t remember where I saw it, sorry. Nice post. xo
My previous school!woow
you went there?
cannot believe it.
Upcoming in 2006? I’m confused but mad paper dresses!
Note to self: 6 and 9 are not the same thing…DOH!
graduate work is the best..they’re not limited to making something that will sell. their creativity is unleashed. i love looking at the grad catwalks.
Don’t worry you couldn’t tell at all about the painkillers! Thought it was a great lecture! 🙂 And your outfit was really cool 🙂 Excited for interview! Thanks again x
Oh wow…awesome..reminds me of that multimedia project I did for a course: I made an interactive dress out of a poem. (Detachable/reattachable pieces of fabric so the poem could be rearranged by the audience).
those dresses are so interesting and beautiful.
Hey, they’re actually not graduate work, but Fashion year zero foundation.
Even though I am on the FPI course at Epsom and not Fashion I still feel passionately that the design students there are on par with other more widely recognised creative institutions in London. And the fact that these are only year 0 students work just further proves my point… 🙂 Jealous! x
Many of the dresses made r ppl going on to FPI next year. I agree with Daria, there’s some amazing work going on. I’m glad ppl like the dresses, alot of hard work went into them, well i know mine did! Thanks
Those are just ridiculously incredible
