Salve Salvatore!

Salvphoto1 No, I'm not purposely trying to make my pictures look arty.  I can't seem to find my tripod and the boyf is out of town so here's my outfit shot for today to illustrate that I'm basically living in my Salvatore Ferragamo black bow pumps.

Someone commented that indeed in Ye Olde Style Bubble days, I was constantly in flats, Ferragamos included.  This flat shoe period was partly due to a teenage fear of heels and also coincided with a time when I was also coming off a major Converse crush and was flitting back to Hong Kong a lot, buying ten pairs of cute cheap flats in the process.

With the ankle still in a wobble, I'm turning back to my old faithful Ferragamo friends because as it turns out, the itsy bitsy heel gives me just the right amount of leverage to lift off my foot so much so that they turn out to be far more comfy than wearing Converse where I have to lift the arch more.  Now it's gotten me in an eBay frenzy where I'm frantically watching a ton of shoes to nab any US size 8 Salvatore Ferragmos with that unmistakable glinting gold and grosgrain bow.

Saved by the Salvatore… I knew I wasn't into old lady shoes for the SOLE reason that they make my feet look neat and tidy…

  1. Those shoes would be good for me, I’m always in flats. I do want to eventually walk in heels though, on a daily basis…

  2. 😀 love it. i feel your passion! my adored ferragamos have finally given up the ghost (too many nights out in the rain and one of the soles is deformed… not even jeeves can sort that – sob!) and i’m having a hard time envisioning life without them.
love how twitter is telling me about your posts before googlereader. score! ;-D i never used to be this technosavvy. life has expanded beyond facebook. during exam term. hmmmmmm. bad idea? never! hehe.

  3. but now you have like a million bloggers sniffing around your watched items!!!! Or is it all just a RUSEEEEE…:D

  4. You should go to Bicester to the Ferragamo discount store give them a call first!
I love them always a fave of mine but I’m a flats girls and a sensible shoe lover of the stylish kind.

  5. i am also a recently converted vintage ferragamo fanatic. ahhh, ebay will be my downfall!
i’ve seen many pairs of the vara bow flats in AA in my size, and have been too wimpy to take a chance (i’m pretty sure i’m a regular B width). how do you find yours fitting?
as always, your posts are so lovely and inspiring! 🙂

  6. Love the outfit! You always have the best legwear 😉
During the week I live in flats, thank goodness for them!
    xx

  7. oh my gosh, that outfit is amazing! you have a great unique style that never fails to impress, well done! as for your teenage fear of heels, i am also overcome with that problem as my nearly 6ft height makes me appear like the big friendly giant if i wear heels haha and when i do my shorter friends moan!

  8. Love the shoes! Glad your ankle is finally feeling better. And even though it’s because you can’t find your tripod, I love the way you’ve done the pics 🙂

  9. I love flats for every day wear. I don’t mind heels once in a while but as I am always in a rush they can be a bit dangerous.

  10. I too had the converse phase! Which has now gone into the flats phase… French Sole are my favourites but tres expensive.
I hope your foot gets better soon! I saw a pair of Salvatore Ferragamo flats in Absolute Vintage last week for £25, in really good condition.

  11. oh i wish i could wear such shoes but my feet are much too wide and look like overstuffed roast turkeys…
also you wear glasses? 🙂 since when?
hehe i woulda thunk youd get glasses frames that are a bit more different to the usual rectangular fair

  12. Can I please have your wardrobe? You always look so sophisticated and fashion-forward.

  13. i think a pair of pristine, cut flats can be just as satisfying as heels, can you stand wedges seems as they’re one big platform, or is it probably best to stick with the flats!

  14. Interesting one. i do love all kinds of flat shoes. I’m not kind a person who really wear a high heels, i admit that I’m a short and petite person. i don’t like to wear a heels to make my height looks great. you such a great collection of flat shoes. i love it! keep posting,,
