Wishing for 1-V

Dear Tommy has beeng trying to capture the 3-V's of people on Jak and Jil – a head, mid and feet view of a person's outfit, the complete components of an ensemble.  Normally I'd say the 3Vs are all equally important to an outfit but on this particular day, I'd have to hand the reins over to my mid-section.  No, not my not-so-flat belly but to the area between my hips and knees….more specifically, the fantastic fabric cut-out detailing happening on this Modernist layered purple skirt, from THAT beautifully laboured SS09 collection.

I'd go as far as saying that in today's sunshine I'd like to be a walking 1-V mid section like Mr Potato Head…except without the head and some wee feet sticking out to aid walking.  Such is the effect of this skirt that I'm willing to sacrifice some limbs and vital organs.

After talking up Lie Sang Bong's cut-out laden AW09 collection and experiencing the power of cut-outs for myself, I'm on a cut-out rampage, the more intricate and 1-V inducing, the better…

  3. So the collage method of documenting the daily looks is here to stay? Please say yes! It’s all so terribly eye-catching. Good to see the Rodidier making another appearance…

  16. OK, I want…badly. Their website is under construction – do you have any stockist details?

  17. I love the colour of the skirt and the collage effect too. Not sure it would fit very well in my poor credit crunched wardrobe!

  18. Stunning! Those cut-outs translate so nicely. Better than I would have imagined. I can now envision entire cut-out illustrated tales on a skirt/dress…
