There's something about NON-wintry palettes in autumn winter collections that is appealing to me for reasons that the so-called rules about winter and summer palettes are being thrown into disarray. Rule-breaking for the sake of rule-breaking can be a bit tiresome but Lauren Kovin A/W 09 keeping her compact collection light in colour, most definitely does not fall into that category. There's more of that draping that first caught my attention in the S/S 09 collection (which has a beautiful accompanying video showcasing the draped movement…) with an added heaviness that makes those pale colours work so well. With a square shouldered jacket, Kovin shows a more structured side to her work. The standout piece though is the cream and nude dress below with triangular padding on the front – a piece that is a palette cleanser, something that I had in mind as to what I should be wearing today after yesterday's colour OD.

The padded dress looks deliciously cosy for winter. The zebra-ish tights definitely surprised me by looking sophisticated-who knew subtle animal print could be done?
Oh so beautiful! The construction of that first dress is so kwl! And I love those tights hehe.

The Ice-blue and beige with the chain….oh *leSigh*
Such draping magnificence.
I prefer her previous S/S 09 collection personally, another interesting stateside designer to watch though.
These pieces are a beautiful reminder of why it’s important to get up, out, and about. They are sooooo aesthetically pleasing.
I like the detailing but loathe all things beige.
Wow, such an elegant collection, the third one is absolutely stunning!

the first is just wonderful, the decoloured devandervar!
Love the second outfit the best! Such an interesting and beautiful cut. I can be worn so many different ways.
Very interesting pieces. Though I’m quite sick of seeing structured jackets, this one’s done in a different manner.
Those are beautiful, especially the first dress. I hope COS will bring out similar pieces (more affordable for me). I’ve always found ice-blue a very wintery colour, the palette is well chosen.
