Cliche on the Shoulder

>> It's not that I'm particularly crazy about cutesy embroidered knitwear but LauraLaura has the most apt of phrases, which she has embroidered onto lambswool cardis and jumpers (all incidentally on sale right now…), that I want to break out with, amidst the stuffy air of 'blog wars' that Sister 'Right On' Wolf has duly noted on her blog.  Yup, THAT old chestnutty cliche.  With a shrug of shoulders and a sigh, sometimes it's ok to say "C'est La Vie" and actually mean it.

  1. I like a bit of embrodiery, and these are really simple nothing fussy. You should check out Pitchouguina on catwalkgenious.com for some amazing embroidered knitwear, not just with words but whole stories!

By the way all I can say about that blog wars link is Yawn, get over yourselves, if you dont’t like a blog then don’t read it! Funny how they all seem to hate the sucessful girls though.

  2. I think they’re adorable, but I don’t speak french nor do I understand one bit of it unfortunately. =/ I think I’d like it tons more if it were in spanish! Haha.

  3. I think phrases on clothes are overdone, and should be saved for something…well, I can’t think of an appropriate adjective. It should have that “je ne sais quoi,” in fitting with the situation, that makes it special. I find very few pieces of talking clothing that I would want to wear, but I would wear both of these. Bien sur.

  4. These are so so cute! But I definitely don’t have an excuse to expand my already too big knitwear collection.

  5. Ooh! Cute! I also love the Marcus Lupfer embroidered merino wool sweaters…the Sil Vous Plait sweater above is too cute! 🙂
    xx

  6. I would only wear these if I was sitting on my couch at my house in The Country, sipping hot chocolate. I love them, but I so hate cutesy french cliches that even the adorableness of these sweaters would not have me wearing one to school or the like.

  7. I would wear those sweaters! I want one that says “severe mais juste,” a phrase I am borrowing from Flaubert.
(And to ‘Pearl Westwood,’ after visiting your blog, a big Yawn right back at you, my dear!
