It seems Kingston University has a knack for churning out 'tribute' sweaters. Last year, it was Grace Melville's David Attenborough knitted sweater that caught my eye. This year, David Stoneman-Merret was inspired by his late nan (Brit-speak for grandmother…) and knitted her out onto a jumper for his collection. He enlarged a family photo of his nan wearing a Christmas party hat and created a pixelated knitted tribute to her. ‚ÄúNan would find the idea of being the face of my collection hilarious,‚Äù David said. ‚ÄúShe would have loved the attention ‚Äì she‚Äôd be telling
everyone ‘That’s me on that top!’.”
Other nan-references include a digitalised photo of wallpaper and cushions for other jumpers in the collection…
Another unfamiliar face popped up onto another graduate's collection, this time it's Thomasin Gaultier-Ollerenshaw from Birmingham. It made zero sense to me, and then the jumper flipped over and there was a random reference to that age old favourite…Dreamphone! Actually, I only know of it and never played it myself seeing as our family were Monopoly die-hard fans. I only ever saw the ads for the game which never made it any more appealing anyway… in other words, I STILL don't really get the reference… oh wells… cute kid on a baggy knitted jumper with a furry front and back tail… yesssssh….
Great post!!! Love it.
