The one Susie will follow

Kate Moss for Topshop’s AW07-8 collection supposedly two notches up (according to The Observer…) and a whole lot better?  Pah… I don’t really give two hoots anymore.  As it hits the shops on 7th September, I’m anticipating a celeb collaboration of a (in my mind) better sort.  A very tardy addition to the New York Fashion Week schedule has been made with Chloe Sevigny debuting her collection in collaboration with the must-visit boutique Opening Ceremony (I believe they have their own brand of clothes and shoes so the Chloe Sevigny collection is separate from that).  The collection will be unveiled on 10th September and judging from this cute handwritten show invitation, it will be a quirky affair that hopefully I’ll want to wing my way over to NYC for… or probably place myself on a waiting list if it proves to be a success.

I’ve briefly dipped my toes very tentatively into the whole celeb line hoo-ha, identifying those that I think have the fashion nous to design something that isn’t just about branding but about design.  Reading the gigantic Chloe Sevigny fest that was the spring summer 2007 issue of Self Service magazine, I don’t really doubt her passion, involvement and staunch view with regards to her style.  There is a fearlessness that doesn’t really cross over to recklessness (well, not lately anyway…) and I respect her willingness to make mistakes too.  In short, without sounding like a gusher, I’ll just hope that Opening Ceremony fully anticipates the popularity of this collection and keeps those stock levels up.

  1. I agree, I hope the clothes are as daring as she is, and hell, anyone who went out with Jarvis has my vote!

  2. IMO Chlo√´ has more sense of style than any of the other celebs(including k.moss and s.miller) that had launched a clothing line. Moreover, she has more experience with the fashion industry. She was Gummo’s costume designer, for instance and probably (I am just guessing) got involved with the creative process of Imitation of Christ.

  3. wow, so exciting. Ms Sevigny trumps Moss in the style stakes anyday in my opinion. And ironically, for me, the whole Kate Moss for Topshop thing actually made me less interested in her, and less admiring (is that a word? No…) of her “style”. It seems that shes just one of those names that people throw out and brand as a “style icon” along with Audrey Hepburn.
..but Chloe Sevigny…yayy! my absolute favourite, very jealous about the invite, so please go for our sakes!

  4. OMG… I picked the perfect time to go to NY…. I’m going next week!! Thanks for the info… will definitely visit ‘Opening Ceremony’!

  5. When all else fails…..become a fashion designer instantly. I guess 4 years in design school could of been done in one night if I had money and connections.
