Wading for Waders…

I can’t say that UK Vogue has been giving me much joy recently especially seeing as I yearn for the quirky, eclectic styling that I so have a penchant for.  So, I didn’t really hold much hope for the latest December issue entitled ‘The Glamour Issue’ (if there ever was a word that strikes fear in me…. the g word would be it…).  However, with Sasha P’s editorial, Lucinda Chambers has come up trumps I think by accenting everything with BBC costume department pieces and possibly the oddest source of clothing: Angling Auctions.  Here, Sasha P dons a vintage fishing hat and vintage waders.  Now, I know my brain is still feeling some post flight fuzziness but is it me or are those waders looking strangely appealing?  The oversized, exaggerrated bagginess, the beaten up worn in leather and the attached straps?  They sort of solve the problem with the ‘Oooh-la-la’ sexy associations of thigh high boots by making them so loose and flat.  However, I imagine, when worn with skin tight leggings/trousers and a flared out tunic/minidress with some sort of belt device to hold up the wader straps…. hmmm….

Fishing gear…. I’m most definitely going to be reading this in 6 months time and thinking ‘What the hell was I on?’…..

  1. Likewise, after seeing the cover/main features, i felt rather deflated and generally rubbish. glamor does not strike joy into my heart.
but this editorial made me seriously consider buying a second copy just so i could have every single picture on my wall.
but, i dont have an extra load of money to spare.
    but, fishing is…the..way forward]
    maybe.

  2. Wouldn’t those hip waders be rubber, not leather? Although they do look like leather in the pic…. rubber hip waders are sooooooo hot and sweaty though. But leather would be so luxurious!

  3. I think in the ye olden days before rubber…. waders were made out of leather hence why the stylist got them from Angling Auctions which specialises in used fishing gear….
I’m definitely looking into it…esp since the waders featured in Vogue only cost £80!

  4. nah i’m with you…they look pretty funky 😀
If the tops were a bit less wide…deff wear those!
