A very very UN-Birthday to me!

I pronounce today, 13th December 2007 my UN-BIRTHDAY.  Actually, it IS my real birthday but because I have no wish to turn 24 today, I’m insisting that it is my UN-BIRTHDAY.  As it is, I hate having my birthday made into a huge palava and after the landmarks of turning 16, 18 and 21, I consider turning 24 a bit of a non-event.

Nevertheless, according to ACORN geodemographic targeting, I’m still a young person (aged 18-24) and I still qualify for youth person travel on National Express coaches and the Eurostar.  Yet it is another year and I suppose style-wise, I need to start considering the possibility of ‘growing up’ a bit.

Seeing as it’s my UN-BIRTHDAY, I’m spending imaginary Monopoly money here and gifting myself a selection of treasures that represent my forever-love with the random, the bright, the slightly weird, the slightly madcap, the fierce….

And then there’s my growing nag inside me saying I should be prim, sophisticated, a bit smarter with buying things that last longer and I will get more wear out of….

Of course since this is all imaginary fake money-spending, I imagine that I’ll be saying ‘F*** you’ to the whole growing up thing, because after all, I am enjoying my last year of being an ACORN-defined young person.
