Pret_header Well, Mother’s day is approaching again and this year, I have booked high tea at The Caramel Room at The Berkeley where they supposedly serve A Fashionista’s Afternoon Tea – Pret a Portea.  I think the Carlyle hotel in New York also offers the same thing.  The cakes,Feb05_leisure1 eclairs and pastries are all inspired by current fashion collections and change twice a year according to the season.  Yup, an Oscar de la Renta dress doesn’t need to cost the world AND you can enjoy the taste of one.  Check out the menu at the moment.

I can’t think for one second that any of this will taste as good as it looks but an afternoon playing ‘spot the designer’ in your cakes and quaffing tea in a faintly pretentious tea room doesn’t come by very often….so I might as well relish it!
