So again, I accidentally stumbled onto another hidden gem in Antwerp when I was really looking for this shop called Les Gazelles which supposedly sells Antwerp fashions student creations. Either it had upped and gone or it was so exclusive that you needed secret door knock codes to get in. Instead, I found this second hand bag shop that was DIRT cheap. I say second hand, rather than vintage because it sold very recent bags as well. No fancy schmancy labels – just some great leather bags of all sizes – some very old, some quite new, some wacky ones, some classic ones all at about 10 euros or less. I spotted this oddball briefcase that I was strangely drawn to. It has this shower cord handle and black and white spectator shoe type styling. Coincidentally, it was the most expensive one in the store at 15 euros but still, a bargain nonetheless. I think I’m going to be styling outfits around this bag. As I left the store, the owner of the store said ‘Good luck with making the bag work’ which I suppose doesn’t bode too well but hey, I’m not one to say no to a style challenge.
(N.B. I will try to find out exact street addresses for Antwerp shops because my haphazard stumbling around the streets of Antwerp is probably not very helpful for you guys who may be planning to visit!)
