As I said before, today, I escaped football by fleeing to the Victoria and Albert museum Swinging Sixties exhibition. I thought it would be a standalone room like the Anna Piaggi one but instead, they incorporated it with the existing fashion section. It was really insightful though to revisit and re-new my knowledge of sixties fashion. Everyone knows the big names – Mary Quant, Biba etc. but I learnt a bit more about other designers that made it big for a short spell during those ‘swinging’ times. The website also has lots of little extra bits like people’s memories of sixties fashion, interviews and you can watch a rather hilarious 1967 documentary In Gear which documents the London fashion phenomenon. Here are some pics I took.
And the part I’d most like to ressurect today. Paper dresses! These were incredibly cheap and were reproduced in different patterns regularly. With technology today, a dress made out of paper that could withstand wear and tear is definitely possible. I can just about imagine it – Dress in a Packet – 1 pound each! Gosh….to see the day when a dress could cost as little as a pound would be great indeed….

wow, groovy baby ,it looks like a fantastic exhibition and my prediction paper dresses will be all the rage in 2020 ???
the funny thing is, I would happily wear each and every one of those items ~!!
I love the white dress in the center green square- thanks for photoing this Susie!
