The problem with summer sales is that more often than not, you’re buying the dregs of the season, the undesirables, the stuff you buy but won’t want to wear come fall/winter and will be terribly dated come next summer. At least in winter sales, you can buy coats and knitwear in the safe knowledge that you’ll put them to good use. However, I think these white shirts will prove to be very useful both for the upcoming season and next spring/summer. The white shirt was the supposed key item of the season which I always thought was a ridiculous notion since white shirts are essential every season. What did happen was that they got a bit more interesting and varied which makes these sale items even more worthwhile. For fall/autumn, you can pair them with the tuxedo suits or layer them under knitwear with slouchy baggy man pants. The Phi one would look especially great over a grey long sleeved t-shirt and a voluminous skirt or skinny trousers. Then come spring summer 2007, the masculine look will still be lingering which means said white shirts can come out and play again. Either way, these ‘dregs’ are worth looking into.
