…. I like to rifle through her closet closet. I call it the closet closet because it’s the stuff that she no longer wears but it sits in this heaving big art nouveau style closet and when you open it up, that kind of funny 70’s mothball smell wafts in your nose. I never tire of going through the closet closet because I always seem to find new things I like, style schizo that I am, I always end up liking things which I wouldn’t have touched before. So today was a good ‘closet closet’ day. I found this dove grey (I love the name of the colour but why do they call it that when doves are clearly white???) shirt that for some reason, reminded me of the restrained sobriety feel of the Rochas A/W06 collection (let’s just celebrate his collection, and not weep over it…). It’s got the right amount of poof in the sleeves and a very highly buttoned up neckline which hopefully I will pear with some darker shades of dove when I start seriously shopping for fall.

Doves actually come in any shade from white to brown. They include such species as common urban pigeons (AKA ‘Rock Doves’).
Ah… oh dear…. I hate pigeons…they really scare me… much nicer to think of doves as those pretty white birds.
Nice shirt, and I’m digging your new Photoshop effect hehe!
Wow, that shirt is amazing! How do you think you’re going to style it? I think it’d be cute with a black pencil skirt and something red too
i love the idea of a softly shaded grey pallet.
I don’t think “pigeon gray” has the same nice sound as “dove gray.” Pity.
I love this shirt!
The colour, the fabric, the sleeves, it’s amazing!
Those sleeves look like they came straight from Zac Posen’s fall collection. Nice!
ah how I love a mother’s closet… mine’s much skinnier than me but for some reason all her stuff fits me – she buys loose I guess… her jackets n shirts are a goldmine… being a 10 with size 14-16 boobs can be a nightmare but cos all her shirts are billowy or just generally cut better than those I find in stores atm they’re brilliant! my two latest steals hav been a white shirt with huge black faceted buttons and a black and white patterned blouse (the print’s so small it looks grey in an optical-illusion-y way at a distance) – the buttons on that one r hidden, and its sleeves r big n billowy but nipped in at the wrist… So much fun!!! she gives me a lot but hav to sneak the white shirt out as she does stil wear it hehehe xxxc
I used to hate my mom’s style when i was a child… i guess i still do but years pass by and i can’t stop myslef from picking up some of her items to wear myself. And i just find them so fabulous!
I remember the first time she bought a black fedora… uh… this was in mid 90’s when 80’s were still a tacky fashion moment to look back at… i couldn’t look at her without thinking how bad taste she had… And now i wear that same fedora everyday!
Mom’s are awesome and very funny to see when they go fashion crazy.
