So, a few weeks ago, myself and some of you guys came up with the ‘cogs’ of our style, the stuff that pretty much solidifies and forms the backbone of our wardrobes. This time, it’s a lot more fun. I had a hard time coming up with a word to describe these items but basically, ‘lovies’ means things in your wardrobe that you actually don’t really need on a practical level but you absolutely LOVE. As I was going through my wardrobe with my sister watching me, I’d be picking things up and exclaiming ‘Oh I LOVE this…. why do I not wear this more often??’ and it’s true. These aren’t things that you might necessarily be wearing all the time but at the same time, if they were missing from your wardrobe, you’d feel just a little out of sorts. These might be things you bought on a whimsy. They’re not necessarily expensive, designer things but they’re clothes that you picked up for no practical reason, other than you really really loved it.
I’d LOVE to see what you guys have as your ‘lovies’, even more so than your ‘cogs’ because…well, it’s just a lot more exciting! So, email/comment if you’d like to share your wardrobe ‘lovies’.

It was a somewhat slutty outfit but I usually wear it over longsleeved casual t-shirts and a variety of black skirts.
You have a lot of nice things there! I especially like your silver All Stars and the Chanel Bag (sooo classy and the colours :O)
Plus I like the way you write!

i don’t have as many or as lovely lovies as you, but my closet would feel empty without these 6 items.

oh well, i LOVE seeing *your* lovies and those of others! it’s fun to peep in on the personal style of others…my absolute favorite thing to do, even and especially if it differers from my own!
go bubble. 🙂
indeed, susie you have some fantastic items!! some of them look expensive..hm..could i ask you something?how much do you spend on clother every month? on average..?
Oooh… thanks for sharing your lovies people – will do a dedicated post!
TIny dancer, I was wondering who was going to ask me that because when I re-read the list I typed up of my lovies, I realised it made me look like some kind of rich girl with a shopping addiction.
The thing is, I take full advantage of living in London with all the sample sales and vintage stores. I shop in charity shops, and I’m also an eBay addict. So in actual, fact I don’t pay a lot for what I own.
I’d rather not say how much I spend in quantative values, but it’s about a quarter of my wages. ; )
Your lovies are great, people!
After reading your entry, I know now what to call MOST of my stuffs – lovies. Yeah, I looove them, I drooled over buying them (and saving up for them) but i don’t wear them much often. In fact, I haven’t even used some of them. But I love them…I swear!
Oh, wait, gotta let them pose for the camera…
Susie! Please wait until later this week to post everyone elses lovies! Some of us need a couple more days to take photos/compile pics of our lovies…can you wait until maybe Wednesday-ish? =) thanks so much.
yey! i am going to do this one!
I love that your choices are so colorful…usually most people (or at least here in the states) stick to basic staple pieces and colors as the foundation of their wardrobe. I believe you have inspired me…
