Come back in time with me…

No shows today alas as I was strapped firmly to the desk and still am… and I’m still depending on peppermint/camomile tea for survival. Therefore I can only type like a five year old or like somebody on a Blackberry constantly…

Re: Topshop Unique S/S 09 show…

…Alexa Chung totally eclipsing Suzy Menkes who was behind her looking a bit miffed/baffled as video cameras swarmed around Chung…

…Peaches Geldof and Cory Kennedy looking like new BFF… the combination of the two is mind boggling…

…really fancied the mini fish and chips and bread and butter puddings served in paper cups but then felt like a lardass as Lula girls Leith Clark and Valentine Fillol Cordier (and the inevitable Chungster…) walked by hand-hand…

…Just-17 RULES according to Topshop Unique design team – I spied pieces that looked like the Topshop pieces that I was ogling when I first came across Topshop when I was 13-ish and reading now-decased mags like J-17 (why did it have to die…?)…

…am contemplating the heart print blazer which is terrifying me because rainbow/heart printed anything used to annoy me to no end…

…there is ONE very YSL SS08 grey sleeveless blazer/waistcoat type thing that I’m shamelessly loving…

…no great close-up of the shoes but they are sculpture/sculptural in a way that is elevating high street footwear…

…I still don’t really like cowboy boots…

…am convinced headbands/scarves look perpetuated is inspired by Anna T who is Nicola Formichetti’s assistant…

…lilac suede never looked so good…

…swirly twinkly lights as a backdrop = subliminal messaging from Topshop?  "You will love this collection, you will love it goddamnit!"…

Gift to guests was a reminder that I crave the Love Heart sweets at the oddest time and actually one time did use it as a flirting tactic…. oh silly youth…

  1. You’re so right about the shoes, that is a serious step forward, now I just have to hope and pray that someday TopShop will come to Canada…or i’ll just have to start going down to NY more!

  2. I saw the line last night, I was completely stunned! It’s a mix of my favorite things: 80s and pastels. I’m so glad you posted on it, really great. I saw the YSL sleeveless suit thing too 😉

  3. I like it, but don’t love it, except for those shoes which are awesome.

  4. wow, killer heels. i wonder what what will be its price tag
honestly, dont like this collection, didnt like the fw collection as well. brought a dress form ss 08 and it’s dream, the dress i mean, just lovely. this collection is too hipster 80s madonna-ish for my liking. too peaches geldof and other oddly named party girls.
i like the grey section and the teddy girl inspired look near the end though. but whether or not i will actually buy the pieces is uncertain

  5. What did you think of the long Teddy Boy jacket? I tried to snag a pic from Vogue.uk but it wouldn’t let me (little sad-face thingy here)

  6. I thought it was relatively interesting, not really my style, I think I more or less had enough of the eighties the first time around:)

  7. i really disliked this show. =/ but, i did fall a little bit for the heart blazer as well — which is odd because repetitive prints like hearts and stars or dots really really really have annoyed me. =/ damn you topshopunique! and the shoes are insane! while i was browsing the photos on style.com i was distracted by not likign the clothes and so i didn’t even pay attention to the shoes.

  8. i love thewashed out pastel clothes and the 80’s look goin on the catwalk for topshop unique and the love heart and kissogram prints are fab, i really like it cant wait till its in the shops!

  9. This is probably the first time I’ve got extremely excited about any Topshop Unique collection and your’e so right about Lilac suede, I really have to start saving up seen as I seem to like so many pieces in this collection…

  10. i loved everything in these pics. the candy pink and blue colours are my fave and also, the huge flopsy ‘house wife’ bows/head scarves.

  11. now trying to work out if i am too old to get away with the headband look – maybe a bit too close to home for a ‘stay at home mum’?!! love it all thank you for ace post xxxx home girl

  12. Love the pics, the show looks like the Valentines of this world are just waiting to find it 🙂 And the scarf is adorable, it looks almost like a Rob Ryan-ish screen print.

  13. Ah man, I loved J-17 too! Though it was a bit hard to find here in Belgium, when I did get my hands on it it was glorious. I still have the pocket novels “Diary of a Crush” on my bookshelves 😀
