I kno I know…shonky and lazy post here but I did chuckle a bit as I wrapped my Tim Ryan black fringe scarf around my waist and realied that I’m doing an update on that thing that everybody did in the late 90’s, when people were wrapping sarongs/scarves or some sort of hip coverage over jeans/trousers etc. I even remember girls being berated on quite recent episodes of America’s Next Top Model for committing said fashion sin and the girls not wanting to let go of their hip coverage for fear of making them look bigger. I can’t say I was ever into the hip wrapping thing the first time round, but at least I have a viable alternative to a grass skirt on hand….

I’m stunned, this might be just the most beautiful outfit you ever posted, for me at least, though maybe different from your usual layering. I love everything here, not only the fringe over skirt, but especially the lace shorts. I’m speechless, and this as a long-time reader… Bravo!
Looks great!
I’ve just started studying fashion technology and in fashion design and analysis our tutor was saying that whilse she could think of definate looks and in particular silhouettes for every decade from the 20s-80s (eg drop waisted 20s, loose 70s, boxy 80s etc) she struggled to think of one particular defining look of the 90s…I have vague ideas but can’t really put them into one look, I was wondering what your take on this would be
love your blouse – its just lovely ; ]]] whole outfit looks really great.

ooh i love that, it’s the perfect length for that skirt and kind of transforms it into something very dramatic!
Yes. the blouse is brilliant- as is the whole outfit!! Have you ever thought of being a Stylist- it’s incredibly hard, but you certainly have the talent!
very cute mix, with subtle colors it’s very lovely.
I like it! I don’t know why it isn’t “allowed.”
That looks reallllly cool.. I don’t think you would get berated for that one. 😉
Snap! I’ve been wearing a spanish scarf around my skirts all week. I loved the fact it is so swishy with the tassles. your is 100% more stylish than my effort though!

Oh I love the fringe and that Blouse is gorgeous!!
Your version is infinitley better! I love this outfit! I used to think wearing bicycle shorts for fashion was silly, but you have changed my mind!
This is such a beuatiful outfit! The lace, the fringe…such a pretty vintage look.
Oh fringe, how I love you. I also love your lace top Ms Bubble, the pom poms are so cute!
wow, such a gorgeous outfit! everything is so…perfect put together! xo
That fringe with the tutu skirt looks so good! When you glance quickly it looks like that monkey hair that you’ve been so keen to lately…
everything is matched well together anyhow.
lace tights! How do you think of buying something like that? genious
Hey, I just wanted to say that I really admire your style and look up to it, and I was wondering if you could maybe visit my blog? I just started creating my own unique style in stead of just following trends, but you can only learn from the best 😉 and no, I’m not just saying that.
Ps. I really like the scarf like that! It doesn’t look like the late 90s to me, that would be with jeans =p
amazing as usual! been reading your blog since almost the beginning (makes me miss london – i used to work at no-one i think i might have seen you there actually?) i have finally just started my own http://www.mybeaumonde.blogspot.com. your blogroll seems pretty maxed out but if there is room i would love to be added to the australian section! i have already put your link on mine of course x
woah, are those LACE bicycle shorts? and is that a BOBBLE TRIM lace blouse? jesus, i’m smitten.
You know, I love this post of yours! And you’re right, now I remember the scarf invasion of the 90s! I love finding out these things, because after all the 90s are the decade I grew up in and I adored everything the “big” girls wore, and I love reading up on the 90s trends in retrospect.. I love your blouse.
this is amazing. loving the fringes
I love this it looks so delicate. The lace shirt is stunning.
what are those? hemmed lace tights? they’re freakin awesome!
wow! Looks gloomy and weird and stunning. love it!
My gf bought a skirt you might like at colette when we were there for the summer. I think you might enjoy it

OH man, I did that soo much when I was younger, I have to admit I like your take on it better =]
Also, I love your top!!
ah! i love this outfit. the scarf really doesn’t add bulk at all! it looks almost like its part of the skirt. besides, you aren’t one to follow fashion “rules” anyways susie!:)
i always read your blog. today i saw you in the street, i wish i wasn’t so shy to say hello.
Hi, was wondering how the best way is to blag myself into future fashion weeks? Just finishing volunteering at one, and am determined to actually attend the shows next time. Do you have any tips?
Thanks
you pull off the look so well!
That is a fantastic skirt. Very cool combination of lace and fringe.
I love it – it looks like your blouse is seeping black goo…in my head at least, that’s a compliment. You always look cute as 12 buttons.
Becky.
Oh wow, I love this outfit!
LOVE THIS OUTFIT SO MUCH.
My favorite of you!
That shirt is super!
juliet xxx
love your top!
The fringe scarf looks so swishy! Love it with the lace leggings too..
Hmmmm…great idea with the scarf, I quite like the hip wrapping trend when it’s in style…this outfit has a nice touch of drama to it as well. I like the white bobble detail on the lace blouse…I’m thinking this could be a nice way to repurpose an existing blouse. I really admire the bloggers who make some of their own clothes , I’ve been thinking about ways of not quite making stuff from scratch, but repurposing existing things to add a bit of life to tired old items that are not ready to die yet.
a twist with lace, love it
haha, totally forgot about that trend! comes in handy at the beach, though. and the way you’ve done it doesn’t even look like a scarf round the waist. love the lace shorts.
this is “layering” at a whole different level!
soo cute! I love this look! brilliant use of textures…it doesn’t look too messy either with the use of dusty pink, black, and white palette! I love the lace cardigan also…I haven’t seen that in quite awhile! thanks!
It doesn’t really look like a scarf at first, more like part of the dress- all-round fab!
PS: Susie, where is your lovely shirt from? There’s something about it that, combined with the scarf/wrap and the lace on your shorts, gives the outfit a faint air of cobwebs and very delicate things…in a cool way of course!
hmmm nice lace blouse amigo!
That shirt is so amazing.
it changes the whole outfit, and makes it look a bit gothic
i love your blouse.
Love the lace. This scarf wrap adds great texture to an already textured outfit. Most girls just wear it like a butt bandage, all wrap and no design.
