Up, up and away!

I know I shouldn't be thinking about vertiginous footwear considering I landed on my arse this morning outside Old Street station after slipping on the snow and promptly got laughed at by an old man whose teeth were falling out and who was holding a pint of London Pride at 10am in the morning.  However, after checking out Refinery 29's coverage of the Acne A/W09 show in Stockholm, once again I was pondering the reality of whether the SERIOUSLY chunky platforms would go into production after still being sore about those S/S 08 cages not making it to the shop floor.  Furthermore, I demand smoke-tinted plastic trousers with an iridescent sheen… think of the layering possibilities seeing as they're semi-clear…

There maybe hope though for the plastic trews AND the shoes as these S/S 09 shoes which I saw at the show last season, that looked like they weren't going to make it to the production line seeing as the models were quite literally "rocking" whilst walking in them, do actually exist.  Looks like they'll be going online soonish so I may well be bunging talc on my legs to prepare them for the smoke-tinted PVC trews and hobbling in the streets in metal cut-out platforms…

  1. Bad, bad toothless bamheid; chivalry is dead!
I can’t believe he laughed; you could have seriously hurt yourself.
I would have pelted the old fool with umpteen snowballs for that!
Hope your B’hind isn’t worse for the fall.
I do like the smoky finish trews but I’m not so sure about the clear ones as for the shoes, very Scandinavian looking indeed, do they come with indecipherable instructions & an alan key? Personally I’m not a fan of wobbly footwear, Iโ€šร„รดm a bit of a wuss in that respect ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. I would have to agree… sweat factor appears very high…wouldn’t they fog up and cling to your leg flesh and maybe leave you with a nasty rash? But hey if your ever spill something on them, whip out the windex and they would be clean and shiny in a flash!

  3. that last picture actually terrifies me. The models all look the same and they look like a force of vampires or something.

  4. The pants scream “Susie Bubble” to me. But that comment on fogging up freaked me out a bit – does that happen? Seriously?

  5. wonderful. and oh my gosh, i designed shoes like those! like the black boots, though they weren’t necessarily black or wood but i sketched the same model, with like ‘half a wedge’ as i called it.. that’s creepy but there’s no doubt these were designed way before, but still. haha :p x.

  6. I don’t want to rain on any parade but I’m not entirely sure if these shoes actually will be produced. Last season I so wanted a pair of Acne shoes that you could get on the wait list for and that were used in all of the looks for the shopping site, but the production people ended up cutting them. If you email the department that handles shopping and not just get on the wait list though then they’ll give you a straight answer.
