The Curse of the 55 Bus…and some Liberty Print

>> I've never felt like such a silly bint as the moment when I arrived at Liberty, huffing and puffing because the crazy bus driver on the 55 decided NOT to stop at Great Titchfield Street, only to the find out that the Liberty floral fash mob was over and done.  Quite literally a mob and flash had been and gone.  I could already see the smatterings of floral-clad guys and gals leaving the vicinity and still I rocked up.

So alas, these snaps aren't my own but the Liberty team have been quick and brisk in getting them up online.  As you can see, hurrah – it was in fact a sizeable amount of people.  Cue ditzy florals galore…

Libertyflashmob

It was all very democratic as the best dressed trio were determined by the loudness of the public's cheer as they strutted down Carnaby Street in a walk-off.  I can't testify for the amount of public participation but I think justice was done as the two girls are really working mixed florals superbly and I'm also jealous of the guy's washed-out shirt…

Winners
I did get to meet and snap the overall winner Natalie Cox who happens to be a Style Bubble reader.  I loved all the little details she had going on; glasses, headscarf, brooch…

Winner
Oh well, nothing to do but to chomp some noodles at Cha Cha Moon and stare at the remnant of the event… the friendship bracelet…

Of course I did dress for the occasion, not to participate in the walk-off thankfully (because I walk like a moose) but purely for participation itself.  Set me a theme for the day and I'll get stuck in.  I do look like I'm wearing a granny's jumble sale but as I'm in the process of clearing things out, random items are coming up to the surface, like chicken scum in a soup.

**EDIT** Pat Lyttle who works at Getty Images very very kindly sent me some of the ones he took….cue more ditzy florals…

  1. I too hate the 55 bus, it never comes when you want it to. Susie you look great, like a massive explosion of florals as if the flowers in Wyevale Garden Centre threw up on you. I love it! 😀

  2. Wow wee! Shame you were late Susie but your outfit certainly doesn’t disappoint… I love the granny jumble sale look! Particularly love the mini skirt. Wish I could have been there (though it would have been very odd to see you in IRL).

  3. oh maan!i liked the other girl’s outfit more, too bad she didn’t win… oh well…

  4. yay! I’m the girl who came second, sad I didn’t get to meet you, been reading your blog for a while too. You’re looking awesome 🙂

  6. awww man, that sucks that you missed it but at least you caught the end. it was all over and done in a flash, i guess there’s a clue in the name but it surprised me all the same…

  10. I know the 55 bus all too well! Why are there always plenty going into town but never any to come home? Where do they all go? Obv not Great Titchfield St!
    Love the outfits 🙂

  11. You look great! And florals on a guy, he hit it spot on. I never thought it would work, but now I want that washed out shirt for my guy.

  12. Your outfits awesome! Never seen so many florals in one, but they’re gorgeous. you layer really well.

  13. this is such a whimsical and lovely post – you had me chuckling at the chicken scum part. and the house of liberty is quite an impressive manse! definitely visiting when i’m in london…

  14. I want to say how cool events like this only seem to happen in london or nyc. why does stuff like this not occur anywher else!? People dont get together in a non rowdy way anymore. This looks so much fun.

  15. Oh wow. This seems like so much fun. Too bad you missed it.
But dressing up is half the fun of it anyway, right? With that mentioned, Im going bonkers over what youre wearing here. Layering patterns mastery at its best.
That cage skirt is incredible. Ive wanted one for a long time.. I dont know how Ill ever get a hold of one tough, since Im unwilling to spend money on it really…. hmmm. Troublesome.
Are you going to NYC fashion week? I am! Jesus Id love to meet you there.

  16. I love liberty prints! They’re so cute and pretty! Such wonderful, fun photos and outfits! Love your shoes with those awesome laces! 🙂

  17. Ah great effort! I nearly spilt my coffee upon those words ‘clearing a few things out’ – you!
I’ve been loving the floral banners so it’s nice to see it captured.

  18. Love all the cute clashing outfits! I would never wear various floral prints together like that, but for Prints Charming Day, everyone looked fantastic and so on-cue!!

  19. Susie I think its fair to say, with no word of a sycophantic lie, that your outfit kicks the winners’ floral ass!!!
    Long Live the Bubble!!!:)

  20. I stumbled upon the liberty catwalk on my lunchbreak, shame i didn’t hang around! I wouldnt have fitted in anyway, I was pulling my Balmainiac look that day.
Although I was at the Grayson perry preview the night before. You look superfantastic Susie x
