Turning Japanese

>> On a day that began with abstracted Japanese kimono silks grace Dries Van Noten's A/W 12-3 collection and ended with seductive Samurai ninjas at Mugler, my vintage kimono from Merchant Archive felt like an appropriate rag to be gallivanting around Paris in.  Even if it did get the tourists and children pointing.  I do apologies for pilfering pics from the core streetstyle crew that are out in force but obviously, I don't have a tag-along photographer to document my sartorial moves and having one would feel like a bit of a twat anyway.  Therefore, I have to thank Tamu of All the Pretty Birds and Nam of StreetFSN for photographing this kimono in its full glory.  The other shades of green come courtesy of new season Jonathan Saudners and Dries Van Noten and a big pauchy Diane von Furstenberg bag that miraculously holds a bulky DSLR.  That seems to be my criteria for bags these days.  The trusty neon Nikes were for pounding streets and also simultaneously made me look like a deranged Japanese dowager lady, running round in ragged robes and tipping rubbish bins over to see what I can find.  There's a very distinct possibility that by the end of fashion month next week, I could be well on my way to that madcap scenario.  Oh well, when I get back to London, I can go hang out with the guy on Holloway Road that drinks copious amounts of Stella Artois and loves to comb the streets for one penny pieces.

  2. This was a very funny post. You don’t really look like a “deranged Japanese dowager lady, running round in ragged robes and tipping rubbish bins”. To me you look just like a very cute girl who happens to like green and needs comfy trainers to stroll down the street.
I LOVE kimonos…If only they weren’t so expensive. Love your Dries Van Noten skirt.

  3. Wow!! This whole outfit is so pretty!! I die utterly happy after this… The green shoes look great with the kimono (kimonos make me happy because a) I have one and its really pretty and I feel special/warm & fuzzy wearing it and b) its a really fun word to type…) anyhow this outfit makes me happy (i already said that…)
Also (because it would make me a happy, little frog if I knew you had seen my blog) could you check it out?

  4. I’ll be honest, I saw you wearing Nike kicks at the Diesel Black Gold show in NY and my poor, heel-clad feet were SO jealous. I love the color of this pair that you’re rocking here, so awesome.
