Gentle Friendly Waves

"Filep believes that summer is an excuse to reveal our skin and enjoy the qualities of femininity."

I would say to that "No Filep Motwary!  The world doesn’t need to see Susie’s flab rolls and rash-ravaged skin…"  But then I saw his spring summer 2009 collection and the alarm bells immediately switched off.  Yes, skin is revealed but through sheer beautiful fabrics….Filep’s key words are ruffles, yellow and fuschia pop and movement. He shapes ruffles quite expertly in his dresses. The colours and the shapes for some reason remind me of the blooms of a jellyfish that waft through the sea. The symmetry in the pieces means that the ruffles look quite tense and a little rigid which give a different angle to the ruffles.

I also love that Filep has come up with a wonderful palette of pastels
and greys in soft chiffony matt textures and then throws in a very
pronounced burgandy plastic-textured jacket…

I’m already predicting some of you enquiring of the shoes and I believe Filep Motwary has made them himself…

Once again, Maria Mastori and Filep teamed up for the show during Hellenic Fashion Week last season and Maria’s jewellery plays with contrast in a similar way that Filep’s clothes do… the pieces are light yet weighted.  Kristina P was responsible for the bags and gloves…
