Girl Undercover

Undercover Just wanted to share this lovely animated homage to Jun Takahashi’s label Undercover, created by the Polish illustrator Przemek Sobocki.  The drawings are like ‘daydreaming about your dark side or a romantic nightmare.’  – a description which I think captures the mood of Undercover perfectly.  The animation shows the images melding into each other to illustrate how the clothes can be worn on top of each other.  You can view it here.

Speaking of Undercover, there is also a wonderful feature on Jun Takahashi and his label here, written by Suzy Menkes.  When asked why the models were masked/mummified in his latest A/W06 collection he said:

‘There was no reason except to efface all feeling, like a destroyed doll.  It was not about bird flu or some deep meaning.  It was something aesthetic.  I wanted to evelope them.’

And here I was trying to think of all these masks/face coverings we’re seeing as something profound and hugely symbolic!
