You Need a Fashion Shower

if you're not waking up and singing "You need a fashion shower!" and repeating Anna dello Russo's lessons of fashion, whilst taking a real shower, you clearly have not watched this video enough times.  If you're NOT watching it repeatedly and intoning "You need a fashion shower" to yourself, then I urge you to do so.  If you get zero joy out of this video, then I need to question whether you're getting any joy out of life in general.    

Remember when I wrote about Dello Russo's personal scrapbooks back in April?  I wasn't in fact snooping around Dello Russo's apartment for no reason but actually I was there to interview her for H&M magazine regarding her now much-publicised collaboration with H&M,.  I had no idea though that the world would be blessed with this track of amazingness nor did I realise how extensive the collection was going to be.  Yesterday, the full extent of what will essentially be a AdR bling n' turquoise takeover come 4th October was unveiled at the oh-so-cute Eloise tea parlour in the Plaza Hotel in New York.  Her collaboration with H&M which includes jewellery, shoes, clutches, sunglasses and even luggage was arranged in this bijoux Polly Pocket (with my Tsumori Chisato dress unsurprisingly blending in) space for us to paw over and in Bryan's cases, try on.  Her fashion shower will indeed touch us far and wide, if the reactions from the guests were anything to go by.  A tea party in the side room felt like a look-but-don't-touch affair.  I'm not sure the rules of Fashion Shower include scoffing your face with cakes and macaroons, judging by Anna Dello Russo's banging bod, clad in a black latex minidress (Dello Russo wasn't really allowed to wear other labels for the video so she decided to go  neutral and headed to the sex shop for her look).

When the herself arrived, us bloggers (Rumi, Garance, Bryan, Derek and Geri) coo-ed, smiled and congratulated her on the video and the collection.  Can you tell from my cheesy grin that I was physically overjoyed by the presence of Ms. Fashion Shower herself.  I'm just prematurely putting it out there.  There's got to be an album in there somewhere.  Diplo and Jamie XX can come in and give it a proper remix for added credibility.

Jest aside, it's clear from the collection that Dello Russo was adamant not to disrespect the designers that she so loves, by attempting an overambitious clothing line.  Instead, it's a fun and irreverent vintage-inspired mound of faux-bling that will get girls, whether they know who AdR is or not, loading up on bangles, chains, charms and serpents.  These are the physical embodiments of the Anna Dello Russo aesthetic which pervades her blog in her baroque picture borders, her apartment filled with gilt and glitz and her own collection of jewellery.  With my metal allergy afflictions, just looking at some of this stuff makes me itch on the spot but the sunnies, the snake cuffs (worn over shirts) and even the vanity case are definitely my speed. 

Now, if you'll excuse me, I definitely need a fashion shower.  After the kerfuffle of Fashion's Night Out and a few lazy days, it's now officially go-go-go with New York Fashion week and fashion month in general.

I LOVE ANNA, I LOVE HOW SHE MANAGED TO PRESENT HER OWN SELF IN THIS COLLECTION, BUT IM NOT SURE I WANT ANY OF IT:( AS MUCH AS I LOVE H&M COLLABS AND SEEM TO BUY 70% OF THEM, THIS IS JUST TOO MUCH, ALTHOUGH STYLED APPROPRIATELY THEY CAN SURELY LOOK WONDERFUL.

  8. Anna Dello Russo never ceases to amaze and – ever so slightly – frighten me! This collection, in general, is not really to my taste but Dello Russo can pull off anything. That alone is something to be admired.

  27. Wow! This is really amazing video. I love it especially lessons needed in the fashion shower like wearing a night dress during day time; very charming! It has a lot of attention-grabbing humor anyone can’t wait smiling and avoiding!Truly, I was impressed with the collection!
