Metal Magpie

It takes a bit of sunshine to bring out the magpie tendancies inside of me.  Vampires with diamond-embedded sparkling skin, you say? (Made the mistake of flicking on one of those films on the plane home from Sydney)  I prefer to unleash a whole host of liquid metal and sequinned garments on the skin instead when direct sunshine is available, which as it so happens was the case in London this weekend.  Anything that resembles full on BacoFoil, Quality Street wrappers or CP30 is most likely to attract my eye.  It began with a Yoox-find Acne silver jacket that is a bit like those mylar thermal blankets you use in marathons and then progressed into a head-to-toe onslaught of silver pleather from the Korean label Pushbutton, well-stocked at Opening Ceremony.  Yes, silver pleather.  The faux-ness of all these foil-esque piece of clothing is sort of the point, so that I fool people into thinking there might be a tasty sandwich or a kebab hiding underneath what I'm wearing.

Then from Sydney where the full on sunshine demands the act of bouncing off of metallic garments in a light-refracting mash-up, I was lucky enough to procure a superbly constructed Ellery swifty cape dress in a shimmery orange copper – the beauty of which is that it slips over the head like a jumper or a sweater with its viscose/elastane/nylon mix.  Then Tome, a NY-based, but Australian-rooted label, continues to dazzle with their love of all kinds of lame in shades of copper and gold.  I'm dubbing this slinky gold coat my Ferrero Rocher coat – with this coat, you're really spoiling me, Ambassador!  My first magpie love remains with the sequin – not rounded this time but cut into holographic curved shards adorning an Emma Mulholland top from her A/W 13 Spaced Out collection.  Sequins also come in rectangular strips on a pair of Shaun Samson basketball shorts from his S/S 13 collection – a menswear personal order that I couldn't resist.

  1. It looks incredible, better than I could imagine wenn I see this kind of stuff from time to time. I like Silver very much, but don’t wear jewlery or silver clothes that much. I use it more for the details, love pailletes though.
I love the result, the way you combine the whole look is not bad, like it.
