I’m not one to fawn over French street style – really I’m not. I respect their effortless chic, their somewhat staunch views on what constitutes style and their ability not to succumb to temporary trends but at the same time, I don’t worship the ground they walk on or think they’re particularly superior over the non-French. Of course, I say all this without having to stand next to them. At the Style Scout bloggers meet-up today (they have a rather hilarious photo of me up there…), I caught up with Cachou of Les Histores de… and met Caroline of Caroline Daily. I don’t think I’ve come across quite such a fearsome twosome stylewise. There I was, with mussed up hair (sleek hairdo did not last with the gusty Parisian winds), dark circles, neon tights, scuffed white shoes and a jacket that didn’t really match what I was wearing feeling about 3 inches tall with all my London-messiness and haphazard ness. There they were with their coiffed up-dos (Caroline had her hair in a sweet bun net and Cachou has hers in sweet Swiss braids), lux looking trench and fur trimmed coat, timeless Chanel and brilliant shoes (Caroline wore Martine Sitbon and Cachou wore Gaspard Yurkievich). After that description, I think I shrunk a further two inches. Don’t be misled though – the difference is not money – Cachou’s trench was Viktor & Rolf for H&M and Caroline’s coat was also from H&M (fur and all… I was dead surprised!). No people – the difference is, they radiate haute style, whereas I radiate…..something NOT haute, thats for sure!
I expect to shrink a further inch (we’re going into minus inches here….) over the next three days.

bolloques.
they are undeniably chic but your style has a certain joie de vivre and ‘fun-ness’ that just embodies all that is great about fashion.
But that’s just my $0.02
These 2 women are exquisite!
don’t be silly…i saw your pic on style scout and you look amazing. that christopher kane dress is stunning. stop selling yourself short. you have a wonderful sense of style, respect it.
The secret is black tights, I tell you. They make every outfit great.
i do really believe that style is inherent to your attitude and if your not able to flaunt it, then fake it! act the part of the sophisticated and chic madame.
black stockings DO help but so do a pair of killer heels a la the two lovely ladies above.
I adore these Platinum Louis Vuitton heels.

they dont so much whisper confident chic, they demand it!
Fabulous shoes… how could we live without them?
Hehe…. don’t worry – this post isn’t some lacking in self esteem thang – just my roundabout way of saying these two girls are chic/stylish as hell! You know me – I don’t make things easy to read!
Thanks for the tips about the shoes but me thinks walking around 5 arrondisements in them would make me officially defunct.
Those girls look stunning. I love how chic a lot of Parisians are, they make everything look to effortless.
I would have felt the same way! And I often do, really.
I sometimes haaate the fact that I am not able to buy all the things that would express what I really am and feel.
And I just haaate that I missed the chance (or rather was 2 hours too late) to buy that amazing V&R trench.
Life can be painful.
eh, i’m studying here this semester, and i don’t really see the big deal about parisians and their style. but the cool thing is though, they dress however they please, there’s no real cultlike trend followings. and there are really different styles in different districts.
is that REAL fur from H&M?
Don’t worry the brown coat with the faux fur coat is from H&M, there were loads in the sale for ¬£10. I guess they aren’t so ‘chic’ after all!
^^^ It is DEFINETLY faux fur, I have tried it on.
I love your style and when I saw you I thought I had no style at all beside you !!! So I’m very happy you liked what I was wearing !!! Your dress is incredible ! 🙂
