Shoes at the moment are making me a little weary and dare I say a little bored? I mean, spring summer 2007 collections yielded amazing shoes all round with sculpted cut out wedges, perspex, neon, and a variety of ways to make shoes super sky high. It’s just that my sickeningly grotesque consumption of every fashion magazine under the sun has worn me down with the same shoes over and over again. I haven’t even seen most of them in person yet I can almost close my eyes, feel them and reel off their origins. *Flips page* ‘Oh it’s those Jill Sander shoes…again…’, *Turns another page* ‘Givenchy is everywhere!’ It’s not the fault of the shoes of course that they are so editorial worthy, just my rotten luck that I inhale so many of those magazines and that my interest in shoes wane as soon as I am overexposed to them. So it’s always good to turn to the under-exposed. Via Shoewawa, I became besotted with these Kristina Kozak Shoes. All literal flowers, cut out and drawn on. Like someone has taken a black Bic biro and started doddling, except in an a really skillful way.
Then Heather Blake, whose shoes I first saw dangling at the RCA grad show last year also won the ITS5 accessories collection of the year award giving her a cool 10,000 euros to get things started. Let’s hope things happen for her soon as I am in love with her play with negative and positive space, rather like those simple art excercises we had to do back at school. There are surprising cut outs from the shoe and these beautiful sweeping curves. Production, stockists, pronto I say!

I’m the same, feeling the need to be loyal to every fashion magazine that I love, and so my room is crammed with cheap wooden ikea magazine holders.
Must. Stop.
And the downside, (along with wasting trees bla bla bla…)I completely agree, is that you always see the same stuff popping up.
Christopher Kane, anyone? I love him, but (and I can’t believe I’m saying this..) I’m beginning to tire of seeing editorial after editorial inspired by his neon dresses.
Ahhh, rant over!
S xx
PS, and the shoes are lovely by the way. I’m assuming the pricetag may not be though…
I know what you mean about Christopher Kane, I love them too but they’re just so noticable…

This Heather Blake must have a line coming out soon! Those are the first non vintage inspired shoes that i have seen in ages that i actually like. and would actually wear.
whoa- very, very stunning shoes!
If you were going to buy a golf club, you wouldn’t walk into a store and buy the first one you see, would you? Of course
not; especially if you want to improve your golf game! You’ll want to hold the club, take some practice swings, hit some
balls if the store has a practice spot, and look at the price, of course. If you are considering buying running shoes,
you need to go through a similar process and take the time to find the perfect shoe.
