When I first blogged about canvas structures of bags, a few of you mentioned Mary Ping’s Slow and Steady Wins the Race range of canvas bags that rendered ‘IT’ bags like the Birkin, Chanel 2.55 and Dior Saddle in plain white canvas and as much as I was interested, alas, the range wasn’t landing on the shores of the UK anytime soon. However, Hintmag have just started selling the Balenciaga send-up bags in an ivory tote shape and also a red pocketbook.
As much as I love the plainess and simplicity of the canvas and I would gladly leave it well alone to get nice and dirty (there’s something not quite right about pristine clean canvas, don’t you think?), I’m also tempted to raid MJ Trim and just completely go nuts with adorning, embellishing and decorating. Me thinks, buy two and use one as an experimental sample would be the best idea. $200 I suppose is a little excessive for some canvas bags (considering I only recently wrote about some cheaper options) but for something that probably won’t ever be available to me again in this part of the world and executes the designer send-up so well, it’s not entirely outrageous.
I like scuffed canvas too.
These are lovely enough bags, but I prefer the classic (if somewhat boring) tote form. I cover them with doodles and buttons and pray it doesn’t rain 🙂

$200??? that seems crazy! you could just buy a plain one and customize it to look like those $200 bags. or just get the real things
i like the last bag, but sometimes plain bags are good for an outfit that is really WOW
