Whilst we speculate whether Hedi Slimane will move into womenswear territory, Karl Lagerfeld has launched his lower priced K diffusion line that is an androgynous range of skinny skinny sillhouettes which is contributing to the popularity of unisex/ambiguous clothing. Mr Lagerfeld says
"Today’s stye is not that different for women or men. My style is very at ease with this ‘ambiguity. This is the base of a wardrobe – and one can add all kinds of things and fantasies."
I’m also liking the idea of taking pieces from this as a base especially with a price range of ¬£47 to ¬£148. Though, I haven’t quite mastered the look of androgyny as I have lamented about before, perhaps edging into it with K range isn’t such a bad idea. It’s like the quickie route to androgyny, all worked out for you in these looks. I’m not usually one to take the easy way out but for a style aesthetic that i find quite difficult to configure into my wardrobe, there is no shame in taking the fashion high road! I’m not sure how confident I would be rocking the complete femme Karl Lagerfeld look but a skinny tie here and a white shirt surely won’t do any harm. The line will be available from July in department stores worldwide.

do you know waht i hate? these k’s everywhere! its like the madonna collection, everywhere these stupid m’s! are they afraid, that nobody wants their clothes, when they cant at least could say with these clothes: oooh see, i have a K for karl lagerfeld on my shirt, you see, i have a good taste and enough money for some overprized aritcles. arhg..
sorry for my bad englisch and my anger 🙂
i like those bow ties that are quite literally bows….i might try that with some ribbon…..
this is great information. thank you!
I’m probably most comfortable in this kind of boy/girl style, and we (at KoS) have been working on a big post about androgyny, which will appear in few weeks. I love it because it suits my skinny frame and I have quite boyish features so it works well for me. I like the starkness of the look. But as for K, well you can pretty much pick up similar items for way cheaper in most places. There doesn’t seem to be anything special or unique about this line.
karl, you can do no wrong.
hmmmmmmm. not sure what i think. i guess it’s good that he is doing a diffusion line that really does capture at least some of the aesthetic he does for the higher price range. but afraid lagerfeld quite often leaves me cold (yes, i know, sacrelige again ;-D) – and i think this is another instance of that. i guess i’m just not too turned on sartorially by androgyny etc. i can see it’s ‘chic’ but not really inspiring, which is what i like to see from the top notch designers…
saying that, i do like the dress in the 5th pic. tho wouldn’t suit my body shape… maybe that’s where my reaction is coming from – it’s just not for me.
kudos to people who can carry off the androgynous chic look tho!
agree with the bow ties comment…

I read it here first. How interesting some of the pieces look quite desirable, and would go well with my wear to work clothing.
The last picture makes me think of a very unlikely style icon… KFC’s own Colonel Sanders.
It just hit me that “androgyny” is girls wearing “guy’s” clothes. What about guys wearing “girlie” clothing?
I love this line. I’m a fan of the “Katherine Hepburn” look where women wear more tailored clothes that prolly look more like menswear. Everything is so clean structured, I just love it. Escpecially the jacket the model is wearing in the top photo, and the coat she’s wearing right below it. Amazing. Of course I do have to add a more feminine touch, so that’s why I’d wear my favorite diamond studs, just for a little sparkle. Check them out http://earringplanet.com/view_product.php?product_id=1176
Happy Shopping everyone!:)
