When mannequin and person meet…

Lola is her own person.  She is a girl about town who doesn’t have a lot of time for people.  She won’t deign to speak to most people.  Some would call it rude.   But Nina, her flatmate and her ‘boss’ knows how to get the best out of Lola, getting her to pose in all sorts of get-ups all over town.  This is the beautiful partnership of Nina & Lola, a fairly new online boutique, run by ex-journalist Nina behind the scenes but fronted by mannequin Lola.

It pleases me to no end that online boutiques like Brittique and Nina & Lola are selling independent British designers that the likes of Net a Porter or Browns won’t pick up on.

Rather than sticking their fingers into too many pies, it’s about selecting fantastic pieces by designers they are truly passionate about.   I also clap for joy as Nina & Lola, specifically stocks some of my favourite designers from the British scene.  In addition they also sell a selection of vintage offerings spanning quite a few decades.
Kaviar Gauche – I’m liking all the summer whites // Noir – The champagne coloured dress looks like liquid iron ore….in a good way…

//

Spijkers en Spijkers – They always put on stellar shows and I’m consistently in love with their collections.  I like the combo of the pink and coral and well you know me and tulip skirts… // Osman Yousefzada – I’ve been hankering after his pieces since I was mesmerised at his shows.  The blue cocoon dress is superb and bravo to anyone who can make pale pink look appealing with that pleating…

Some of Nina & Lola’s vintage choices…

Lola may be mute but she does make everything look exceedingly good.  So much so, I’ll have to give the bank manager a ring on Monday.

  1. Haha. This made me laugh. They are a lot more versatile than your average model, and must save a lot of time backstage!
    Hurray for Lola!!

  2. Reading your blog has increasingly become a financial hazard for me! I’ve fallen in love with at least four pieces of Spijkers en Spijkers…gulp

  3. I really like the Spijkers en Spijkers gold skirt… Would never be able to afford it, though X(

  4. what a great find susie. I love the ethos behind the company as well. You can really tell that she loves what she’s doing and she wants to make shopping a great experience for everyone. The international shipping is great as is the recyclable boxes and the ability to add a card. I love companies like this. Am I the only one who doesn’t know how to pronounce spijkers and spijkers?!
