Remember how I said vintage in Hong Kong is something of a rarity and I attributed that to a lack of interest from fashion consumers. Well, one way of solving this is to combine vintage with something that might peak their interest. Like…a luxury shoe brand? Roger Vivier needs no introduction (I’m making it my long-term mission to own a pair of Vivier patent pilgrim flats….) and two weeks ago on the 13th April, a presentation of the Roger Vivier spring summer 2007 collection was held at the Vivier store in the Landmark in Hong Kong. The presentation was held jointly with Mies Vintage, a by-appointment-only vintage boutique owned by Konwae Lin, selling *gasp* top notch quality vintage from the likes of Dior, YSL, Givenchy, Valentino, Oscar de la Renta and Bill Blass to name but a few.
Let me remind you it’s hard enough finding a generic vintage store selling faded t-shirts or generic dresses let alone a Rellik/Didier Ludot style vintage boutique so I’ll be noting the address (38 G/F Aberdeen Street, Soho, Central) down in my to-go places next time I’m back in HK.
The presentation resulted in the unbeatable combo of contemporary accessories and vintage dresses. The pictures feature an Edwardian lawn dress, vintage Pucci, a Valentino LBD and lots of 60’s gems. I must say the dresses have detracted my eyes from the shoes but I guess I’d rather have the dresses than the shoes. Let’s hope this is the beginning of a beautiful vintage presence in Hong Kong.

Love vintage, can’t do it without!

god, that black and white dress is stunning
wow, i agree, with such beautiful vintage dresses it takes alot to drag your eyes down to the shoes.
I agree – that black and white dress is just too gorgeous! It looks a little like the black and white dress Audrey Hepburn wore in ‘Sabrina’! I’ve always wanted that dress hehe
I know! I’ve been looking for vintage shops all over the city but I find none, except one on Granville Road and it’s kinda hippie more than vintage. I’ll be going to that store in Central next time I go there.
I love the dresses. The white dress is gorgeous.
That black and white dress would look perfect at a may ball with black/white/lace evening gloves. Ah, a girl can dream…
Love that last white dress. And pairing it with some of the sickest heels on the planet. Delectable!
Must go when I go back to HK!
Thanks.
Hello.
i m from hong kong, from the minority of those who adores vintage.
there are several vintage storesin hong kong actually.
few in Soho, Central, selling beautiful cinderella dresses.
( one which you’ve mentioned and the other on Staunton street.)
and Fa Yuen Street, Mongkok, smwhere only old ladies go is best for treasure hunting!
one called Mee&Gee,
( on the sidewalks, not the stalls along the street)
they have clothing costing HKD 10 – HKD 200.
rare, but it’s out there.
i love that half the appeal of vintage is when people ask, where’s that dress from
“oh, its you know, vintage.”
that’s even better than saying “oh, its YSL.”
i love that last dress on the left side. how wunderfull!
Wow, I just came across this blog today and that black and white dress with those sleek black heels is just a beautiful and elegant combo. I heart this look so very much!
