The clothes that I have crushes on can be pretty random. A few months ago if you had said the words ‘Red PVC’, I would have instantly replied ‘Badly dressed hooker’. Then I went to the presentation by designer Maaike Mekking, who has been designing No-One’s one-off collections but has now got her own label. Her AW07/8 collection entitled ‘She’s Lost Control’ features a delectable red PVC trench worn in such a way that suddenly changed my opinion of that material. It’s the idea of a classic trench trashed up with such a material that I think works.
Then in quick succession, I spied a Michael Kors red PVC trench (from Nylon May 2007), and a D&G red PVC trench from their pre-fall collection (from Dazed & Confused May 2007). Yes, the seeds have been planted. I can’t get the effing garment out of my head. For early fall, a red PVC trench suddenly makes perfect sense. It may well be the enticing images lulling me into a false sense of security, making me think ‘Yes, I could work a red PVC trench’. Therefore, my first foray into red PVC will be cheap, hopefully vintage and thus it won’t be a dead loss if this clothes crush of mine fails.

Nothing to do with the red trench (but I’m loving that flinging hair pic) but Susie, thanks for posting The Teenagers in your ‘tunes’ section. They are A-Mazing! Check them out everybody >>>
Oh my god, how can something sound so wrong but look so good ?!
Love that pic too.
I find it unexpected that Michael Kors would use PVC. But the coats look gorgeous, especially the 1st.
Yes, I was going to say that. The first trench is stunning…
so early 90s in a good way.
also conjures up images of helmut newton photographs, romy schneider, jane birkin…
omg, i LOVE the last one! Though if someone just came up to me and told me to wear a striking red PVC trench, I would have looked at them and told them to “f off cos I don’t want to look like a hooker.” But now? After seeing these incredible pics, I would grab the trench, and run.
Oh btw, awesome blog.
hihi, we share the love for these cute things!

Who knew red PVC could look so cool?!
I was thinking of using this material myself and I was wondering where I’d be able to purchase it.
I think Levi/Andy Warhol had this red PVC pair of jeans. It was in Nylon… June or July issue I think. Looked fantastic.
I asked my wife where she wanted to go for our anniversary. Somewhere I haven’t been in a long time!” she said. So I suggested the kitchen
