Ring a Bling Ding at H&M

Rchm I was wondering/waiting for the next name H&M would throw out for their designer collaboration and it has emerged and to say that I’m surprised would be an understatement.  Drum roll…..it’s gonna be Roberto Cavalli

If you’ve checked out my IQONS page, you’ll see that there are literally two designers I don’t like and one of them is…yes….Cavalli.  I’m not dismissing all of his work.  It’s just that Cavalli is in no way to my taste nor do I relate to the aesthetic/philosophy of his brand/s (Cavalli vodka and wine anyone?)

Rchm2 In a way, a part of me is pleased that I’ll have about as much interest in this high street-designer collaboration as talking to my bank manager about how much I can get my hands on to spend on Cavalli.  Also, it will amuse me much to see the Wag Wannabes (might as well start using the lingo, see previous post on Ten Teen Looks) grabbing at Cavalli for H&M stuff on November 8th seeing as their heroes like Posh Spice are Cavalli obsessives.  Obviously I’ll be there to see it all unfold.  Just as it was surprising to see so many people turned onto Viktor & Rolf because of their collaboration with H&M, it will be interesting to see what variety of demographic this will attract.  For example – indie scenesters, people who aren’t typical ‘Cavalli’ customers – will they buy into it?  Further judging and speculation to be expected when the designs are revealed.

  1. I am also not a fan at all. I have an aunt who loves his clothes and accessories, but since i dont, sometimes i look at her and she kinda looks ridiculous, by wearing that from head to toe!
but just like you i’m curious about it!
    luv
    su

  2. oh, I feel disappointed…I do not like Cavalli: I don’t like it on the catwalk, on the magazines and I do not like the overall image, don’t even like the web, they have diamond icons!! :S and I can already foresee the crowd…am I being too strict?

  3. i’m witholding judgement till i see the collection.
but my immediate reaction is ‘eeugh.”

  4. I recently expressed my disgust concerning this collab. on TFS.
I’d just like to reinforce my contempt by posting here.

  5. ugh. no more words for current feelings on reading this…
why H&M?? You might expect New Look maybe to collaborate with cavalli but the H&M look just doesn’t seem to go with it at all.
    I’m confused.

  6. Unlike all of the commenters, I’m rather excited. (: Although I’m not really a wag wannabe, I like some of his flowy dresses, and hopefully it’ll be in the collection…

  7. Following the same train of thought as thouse who posted before me…Cavalli?? Blurhghghgh. And for once in my life I have an H&M close enough to me, and this is what I get? There should be a user-submitted choice, wouldn’t that be fantastic? Imagine the choices, now that would be great.

  8. I’m rather perplexed by this choice… cavalli??? I’ve seen a few nice dresses here and there but… ew. I think it’s one of those designers that should never be translated into H&M…

  9. why did they pick Cavalli ?
It’s not fresh, not specially “in”..
well. let’s give him a chance.

  10. this was the most depressing news I had yesterday.
well, for the first time in 4 years, I won’t wait for that day.
Cavalli sells, well in Russia, but I think it will be some kind of mistake for h&m. wrong direction.

  11. i am no fan of the spice girls, nor am i a fan of cavalli. but if the clothes do look good, why not buy it? i don’t see the problem. besides, the v&r collection was awesome, so maybe we should just wait and see.

  12. Some of his dresses are ok but they are a but Dallasty. I can’t wait to see the H&M collection just for entertainment value. I actually bought the Victor & Rolf beige mac and I love it, talk about total quality.
