I haven’t a clue what BB Dakota is and after clicking through to their website (two websites in fact which makes matters even more confusing…), I’m getting vibes of the US equivalent of New Look. I even had the inclination to look up a BB Dakota store whilst I was in New York to see whether this floral dress spotted in the latest issue of Teen Vogue was available because at $60, I think we just about have a winner for THE designer spitting image award. A zip, some strongly capped shoulders, a bright birdering on tacky floral print? Could only allude to one season, one designer really…
I do try not to fall for the designer spits and seeing as this is somewhat out of my reach, not in price but in location, it would be great to have someone in the BB Dakota know check this one out to sleuth out it’s image spittiness….

woah… that’s a bit like you-know-who… but it was bound to happen, i just didn’t think it would be bb dakota… honestly, i haven’t heard of them since i bought my bb dakota shearing lined – acid wash denim jacket, in 1988.

BB Dakota is sold in a lot of “skate” shops and stores that also carry American Apparel. I can think of two right here in Victoria that have it. I’ve never noticed if they “spitting image” any designer. The gf has a shirt dress that looks darling on her. If you want I can have a look to investigate this possible forgery. As a dense fashion male I have no idea which designer you are talking about…:(
Balenciaga? Haha, I have to wonder how they get away with it! It’s a really nice dress actually. VERY good copy. It would be wonderful to wear in the summer. Shame it’s only available in the US!
The Balenciagas are definitely too iconic for immediate trickle-down… who do they think they’re kidding?

I love the feathered fascinator and printed tights- the dress is kind of secondary to their coolness..
Dunno about the dress, but the hair looks great! It’s a bit much with the huge pattern on the dress but with a simple outfit it would be great. Sorry, sorry, I know that’s not the emphasis of the post…

ah, yes… when i first saw this, i immediately thought “balenciaga!” my second thought was “BB Dakota? No….. it cannot be!” honestly, bb dakota is just about the last brand i would ever expect this from. do love the dress though.
I bought a fabulous parka at Nordstrom Rack in Seattle by BB Dakota for only $40. The quality is decent, so I would definitely buy from this brand again. When I saw this dress in Teen Vogue, I was not expecting it to be BB Dakota. I believe the brand may be based in California, but I may be wrong.

BB Dakota is sort of a more expensive quick-time fashion brand. It’s based out of Laguna Beach rather than LA and its usually sold at Nordstrom. I thought it was really wierd that Teen Vogue would use so many of their clothes seeing as how their designs are usually run-way knock offs.
Oh man! I was thinking that saaame thing. And I agree, two websites is annoying. Its odd that one looks so much worse than the other. The cut and color is pretty impressive for a label that churns out such badly tailored items…stores like Forever 21 never mimic lines that involve precise tailoring, so it is really surprising that they chose to imitate this particular line….
How funny- when I saw this in Teen Vogue, my immediate thought was, ‘eh, not as good of a Balenciaga knock-off as the version Susie Bubble made with that chairty shop dress.’ I say pass on this one- you can do better.

Those troll doll leggings are incredible… they take me straight back to Primary school days and begging my mother for the orange haired sailor troll for my 10th birthday. Must have!
When i hear BB dakota i think of nordstrom’s junior department.
usually they have more basic/slightly trendy pieces, this blatant balenciaga knockoff is pretty “fashion forward” for their customers

wow this is highly confusing. I own a BB Dakota jacket that I picked up from some outlet like a million years ago…and I totally did NOT know that they made things that even remotely resembled Balenciaga. Haha, now they do, apparently!
I’ve tried on some of their clothes at a boutique that carries Gentle Fawn and Bebe so I never knew they were associated with the skate scene. Cute stuff.
I have been searching for that dress. Can you find it online/in stores yet?
