Bloody lemons…

Lemons Lemons2 Lemons.  Sodding lemons.  Lemons sliced, steeped in hot water with a wee bit of honey in shallow mugs.  That’s all I’m facing these days, as opposed to fashion shows.  Still, when faced with illness and piles of lemons, there’s nothing to do but to choke it up and look at the lemon and see what inspires.  Coincidentally, a vintage dress arrived for me in the post which has a swirly lemon and purple pattern and  also conveniently has a high neck to disguise my inflamed red chest.  Lemons1 When paired with some matching feather headpieces (one from Etsy and one from Jennifer Ouellette, a last minute buy from Barneys), I can just about take some positivity from the fact that I’m ingesting about five lemons a day and not much else.  I also added the Vivienne Westwood peach socks to remind myself that there are more fruits to the world than citrus ones.

  1. nice, i really like the head peices worn together. Your shoes match really well!

  2. Haha, the headpieces match! Looks like they got their feathers from the same source or something…
You pull of the dress amazingly! But hope you feel better soon, and are able to eat something other than lemons. ๐Ÿ™

  3. get well soon… my brother has a cold now too so maybe it’s the weather ^^
and i LOVE LOVE LOVE the dress and the whole outfit. i even love the headpieces even though i don’t normally like feathers.
this outfit has to be one of your best ones.

  4. Heya there and welcome back!
Sorry to hear about ya bein’ sick! Was there for about a week now and I’m finally feeling better! Hope you will too (and faster than me!)!
However – me got two thingies to say – uno – I completely understand your frustration with the laptop – got a bit of history of losing a hardware (and all the pictures with my kids that were on…) and not recovering any data from. still, what doesn’t kill you.. surely makes you keep your pictures on more than one source from now on! (I sure multiplied sources ever since).
    Secundo – this gucci controversy

.. is it real? I mean, you were there, in the middle of things, haven’t you heard anything? I’m really curious how things are going to end up!
thanks alot and get better soon!

  5. Your mentioning fruits just now got me thinking of Fruits Basket the anime/manga- v. cute that was…
I’m sorry you’re sick, though (do take care of yourself, weren’t you ill before leaving for NY too?). The dress and headpieces are lovely, even if I was too much of a dimwit to figure out at first that there were TWO headpieces and not one- they look great against your hair, too.

  6. keep dieting………… yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh *^^*
    you are getting pretty

  7. Thanks for the get well messages…
KPriss: Ah…that controversy blew up after I flew back… it seems strange Gucci didn’t get the permission to use such well known imagery…
    Kim: Um…sorry… didn’t realise I was such an ugly fatass beforehand… don’t think I’ve gotten thinner either…

  8. susie I’m in the same boat at the moment. If you’re coughing and congested, stick a cut onion on a plate in the room when you go to bed. When you wake up, the stink will be lovely, but it really clears the airways and gets you to breathing like a normal person. An old Polish treatment.
    Feel better!

  9. Bullshit! You were never fat, you`re gorgeous with a doll-face and wonderful hair! I`ve read in a brazilian magazine that another old fat bitch was saying you are “chubby with strange legs”… never heard so much bullshit together in my life! Oh God…! And get well soon!!!!!

  10. i love your feathered headpiece !! so fashionable !! u always manage to create awesome looks with cheap stuffs !!! that’s so great dude

  11. I love everything about this outfit. And I mean everything.
Blegh, lemons. I can’t even get one of those disgusting sour things through my throat. Well, I hope you get better soon.

  12. I’ve been an avid reader of your blog for a while now but I think this is the first time I’m commenting on a post. Really, I just wanted to say that I adore this outfit… I’ve been trying to re-interpret the 1920’s style in a modern way for a long while because I am obsessed with that time period but I just never seem to get it right! You, however, managed to create the perfect twenties-inspired look that doesn’t seem dated at all. And of course, the colours work lovely together too! I come from a small town in Sweden and most people here dress in exactly the same way. I will draw inspiration from you and try to change that fact!

  13. I’m in exactly the same position! Except that I squeeze the juice out of the lemons rather than steep them. Get well soon!

  14. Harsh diet, but that look is great. I especially like the feathered-ness on your head. You look fantastic in yellow.

  15. lemon and purple is going to be my new color combo (that’s a fantasy – i NEVER wear color, but if I did… =)

  16. you look great even though you are sick! I only want to lie in bed and do nothing when I am sick…
the feather pieces are exquisite susie chief!

  17. That feathered headband is killer — I can’t wear fascinators because I don’t have enough hair for them to hang onto! It makes me want to dig around and find my glue gun… Totally glorious flapper-chic.

  18. Careful with the lemon and hot water though – someone just told me recently it is TERRIBLE for your teeth! Don’t ruin your pearly whites bubble! x

  19. Susie I have been reading and posting comments once and a while here for about 2 years now—I remember this because the day I started a new job I found your blog—anyway—I love your style and your creativity. You are wonderful. I saw the “fashion is spinach” post and your dress was amazing and your HAIr—Soooo gleaming! This post is great too—-I’m guessing the wierdo diet posts above are some deranged people who landed here after googling “lemon diet” or somesuch nonsense.
