Gloved-Up needs a name change?

I seem to be obsessed with wearing what most would consider too ‘editorial’ or are in fact merely styling tools as opposed to things for everyday practical wear.  So when Gloved Up, who have provided a lot of editorials with interesting armwear (so inventive are they with the sort of gloves they do that the word ‚Äòarmwear‚Äô needs to apply as opposed to just plain ‚Äògloves‚Äô) sent me a link to their press samples (a lot of which are now on sale to the public too…), I had to drool and say ‚ÄòI want that one, that one and that one‚Äô.

Getting onboard the sheer sheer train, they have a selection of arm length gloves in plain and dye effects to sheer frilly ickle gloves.  I love the effect the PVC and sheer material has when contrasted with each other in one glove.  In addition they have also gone into legging territory but of course these aren‚Äôt your run of the mill leggings.  They‚Äôre sheer with frilly hems.  If they didn‚Äôt end at that awkward part of the leg which exposes my not so perfect calves, I‚Äôd be snapping them up and layering them under dramatic skater skirts.  Ah forget it.  I‚Äôll just risk the chunky calf effect…

PVC leggings also come with extra frilly detailing at the butt.  Now, highlighting the arse with something shiny and squeaky doesn‚Äôt seem too smart but I‚Äôm constantly surprised by how slimming an effect shiny black materials can have so I‚Äôll keep an open mind about these….

Then there‚Äôs a new line of accessories which I saw in person but couldn‚Äôt believe they were fashioned out of recycled plastic bags and binliners…. the effect is sort of a textured, nubby plastic and though I‚Äôm sadly not participating in the upcoming Met Costume Ball themed around Superheroes, a black mask to have hanging about is definitely in order.

Only thing is I think they now need a name change with all the stuff on top of their wonderful gloves…

  1. Oh Blog Jinx, I posted about Gloved up too-before the samples came out but I love the way these could dress up just plain white tee-shirts.

  2. I like the Christopher Kane esque frilliness on the gloves. Also dig the PVC leggings but I want them to be longer!

  3. Those frilly PVC leggings have Wendy B.’s name all over them should she chose to move away from butt bows! But, I am sorry to report, the blue ones look almost obscene, even as the mannequin has no bona fide crotch.

  4. Wow, those are funky. I like the gloves! Anyway, I’ve seen some cute scarfs and knit hats on an online boutique, http://www.artfulwears.com/
They’re cute, and they’re having a sale, so you should check it out.

  5. Omg, I need some of those sheer gloves. I loved the ones that Marc showed for spring.
    Crochet tiara? In love.

  6. The leggings are ugly….there something really childish about them…are they for children??? No grown women should be caught dead in them!!
    I like the gloves though…..

  7. I’ve been oohing and aahing at Gloved Up gloves since I saw the green brocade ones in the Vogue UK editorial.
I would buy the first mask, too, if I had a masquerade ball to go to…

  8. I LOVE gloves, any fabric, any length! They are a very good statement to make if you know how to use them, plus they look very glamourous!
    xx

  9. Nice to know that someone out there is wearing the “editorial” stuff on a day to day basis.
We all need to be a little less casual, don’t we?

  10. I’ve been after some pale sheer elbow (or longer) length gloves for a while. And some pastel lace ones.
BTW how (HOW!) do you manage to write once or twice a day?!! AmAZing!!

  11. Ah, I’ve been stalking Gloved Up for many years now. My friends’ label always used them in their shoots. I have several much worn, much loved pairs. My most recent acquisition was a sample pair used on a Vogue Italia shoot, which are just beautiful.

  12. Wow. You always send me to the best websites, Susie. I’m seriously considering doing an ebay sale blow-out of my possessions so I can have the violet-grey tie dye opera gloves. I wouldn’t say no to the electric blue ones either. And my bum is seriously lacking in PVC frills right now. *sigh*
    Becky.

  13. This is all a bit too ‘harajuku girls’ for me. Perhaps editorialized, or styled by the magnificient Susie Bubble I could be convinced otherwise.

  14. The 5th short frilly glove is great, but I don’t think I could ever wear those leggings. Lovely to look at though.

  15. The little gloves with the puff are actually really cute!
Not so sure about the ruffled bum pvc leggings..kind of freaky

  16. When can I buy the masks and head bands?!! AMAZING! The gloves are phenomenal as well.

  17. I agree the leggings by themselves are terrifying and the PVC frilly bummed leggings are also a bit of a conundrum but I believe there are ways and means…. a longer length would have been perfect…
Glad the gloves are tickling ppl’s fancies… I would contact Gloved Up direct to buy them…

  18. Thanks Susie for such a cool mention!
and all you others for your comments.
It’s true Glovedup doesn’t cover all the bits and pieces I make. I’ve wondered about other names, and then I think of the bar called Dream Bags and Jaguar Shoes … and gloves are what I do mostly.
I’ve always made lots of other fashion bits and pieces and you can see pix and videos of these (past and present) on my Glovedup Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/edit/?id=6937083716
As for the scary frilly leggings – they’re hanging in the wardrobe in my Bloomsbury studio – visitors are welcome if you dare!
    Best wishes
