It has to be said that I haven’t yet seen ‘I’m a Cyborg, But That’s Ok’ directed by Chan-Wook Park and apologies if you have already seen it as I gather it has been released around the world at various stages. However, surfing over at I’m a Cyborg’s cutie cute pop-up book site and reading about the film has me salivating over the visual feast that I’ll get when I do see it (hopefully tonight). Thus there will be not one, but two posts dedicate to the pastel visions that Park has dreamed up and created for these two characters to inhabit. Obviously as I haven’t seen the film, I can only go by the delightful screenshots but already I can see that the interiors of the psychedlic psychiatric ward are ripe for transplanting onto clothes…
Part Une presents the pastel treats that are out and about on the web right now, and trust me that this was only a small selection of the mass of pastel out there… and Part Deux will explore my own pastel treats POST-film seeing, when my head will surely be immersed into the world of Young Goon, the girl who think she’s a Cyborg…

I saw the film when it was first released and I thought it was great, it’s definately a quirky film but it works because the characters are so endearing and I’m a sucker for love found in unusual places. The opening scene in the factory is killer – you’ll know when you see it.
i haven’t seen this film and i already love it (rain is perfectly cast in it i’m sure). those are some amazing images!
I adore that powder blue coat its beautiful!! I love geting style inspiration from books and movies
the film is good. A very funny story.
I’ve been dying to see this film–it looks so sweet. The pastels are so nice.

ups!
i’m trying to curb my pastel love for a rich proenza schouler colour palette for autumn but it’s too hard! give me candy colours any day
We loved Park and all his films. I’m a Cyborg is a quirky comedy, something really different from Park previous films.
ive wanted to see this since i saw a little review in dazed! the pastel colours make me think of cupcakes. the girl is so sweet and makes me want to botch of my hair that ive been growing for 2 years and bleach my eyebrows!
ps. when are we going to get a review of the best latex leggings about as promised a while back?
I saw “Cyborg” at the Barbican introduced by the director Park Chan Wook himself – it was amazing to watch and even more amazing to hear him talk about the film.

Foxtrash: I’m waiting for the Kova & T leggings to come back in stock and then I will do a full review… no review could be done without those bad boys…
These pastels are nice; you’ve chosen the cream of the crop, as usual! I haven’t seen the film. It looks great, I’ll check it out.
Thanks for this post. I did not know what to do exactly yesterday evening, and reading your post reminded me how I have the DVD of this movie lying around here since ages, and how I never got around to watching it. So I just did. Cute and original. I give it a 7/10.
I loved this movie when I saw it at the Berlinale. It’s funny and sad and the dresses are great!
I saw it quite awhile ago, because Rain was in it. (I am a bona fide fanatic…oh well.) and it’s so beautiful.
I want to watch this film very badly, but some sadistic distributor (probably the same type who won’t distribute the Peter and the Wolf short) refuses to release it in Region 1 DVD format.
I agree I love love love to get my fashion inspiration from movies and books.
Where can I see this movie? I think it’s great to see how fashion is translated from t.v./movies to what is being worn in popular culture.
