Pandas don’t live in DC…

Yup, ‘fraid to say it but the title is true.  However a certain Morgan Hungerford who goes by the name of Panda Head and has been documenting Washington, DC style since 2006 has now branched out to become Panda Head Magazine and has just launched its first issue online.  I’m adding links to these new e-zines everyday and though for the time being, I’m putting my whimsical dreams of magazine-dom on the back burner (for reasons some of you might already know but I’ll reveal to all later on…), it is comforting to know that more and more bloggers are taking matters into their own hands and getting all flash and awesome with flicky-clickety-click online magazines.

In some ways, there’s nothing flashy (the description as opposed to the technology which is frankly beyond me…) about what Panda Head feature.  Bands they like but a lot might not have heard of, simple yet effective photography that strikes their fancy, fashion that isn’t haute but earthy and attainable.  The key thing about the magazine is is that it’s a DC-collective of talent putting together something out there.  It’s funny that in the process of globalisation and fashion exploding out of the confines of the four fash capitals and more and more people being aware of the ‘scenes’ going on all over the place that it has actually become easier to then focus on the immediate locality.  Or to put it bluntly, I’m more likely to read an online e-zine about DC style despite not living in DC but somehow, the internet has made me more intrigued.
