Bound and Clad

Hintmag got the lowdown but it doesn’t mean I’m going to NOT gush about Natalia Brilli’s AW08-9 collection.  I was scratching my head a little as to why I haven’t written about Brilli’s work before seeing as I’ve met the lady and her wicked sense of humour, when I was in Miami.  It must be the ‘person first, their work second’ thing that I seem to be doing a lot lately.

Whilst I await images of her full accessories and bag collection for AW08-9, these lookbook images seem to confirm that everything looks far better when it is clad and covered in black leather and that if I was ever forced to ride a bike in London, a Natalia Brilli helmet would be the sure ticket.

Black leather would definitely induce me to wear a watch (no, I don’t need it to tell me the time, my phone does that very nicely…) and a take on the keffiyah…

Her signature leather covered bead detailing is repeated in various ways for the new collection but I’m liking them worn in abundance like this…

  1. Wow, this is so hot. I would buy the leather scarf/keffiyah in a heartbeat. WOW.
And let’s talk about that helmet. Mmmmmm…

  2. I’m surprised you hadn’t written about her earlier too, I really loved the look of the gloves she used to make. And then there were the leather-covered beads (I remember a bluey-green string on Lily Cole in a Tim Walker story circa July 2005, and from then on it’s been love..)

  3. ooh gosh, so deliciously fetishy… that last image looks gorgeous, what I’d do for a huge print of that! I love the keffiyah too. The beady headcovering remind me of weird squid-like things though…

  4. I love this! All of these designs are so futuristic and hot, I would love to wear absolutly everything… all at once…. 😉

  5. oooo so much black. i agree, that is one stylish helmet.
on another note, i want a helmet that doesnt give me hat hair..when will someone make that?

  6. PS: Maybe this isn’t the best place for it, but a huge CONGRATS! on the Dazed Digital job! I’m sure you’ll be amazing at it..
