I will play the ‘Look at who I’m sitting next to’ card just this once because it positively is cringing and really quite childish. So the night continued into copious amounts of bubbles (the bad sort for me…champers…) and then onto the show, where my camera ran out of battery mid-show but I have everything I need, me thinks for rull reportage here. I knew it was going to be a front row affair but I didn’t really know I was going to be smack bang at the end of the runway sandwiched between Sami Tillouche (designer from Lanvin) and Lucas Ossendrijver and then Jean Paul Gaultier…oh well, they found another way to spell my name wrong…’Suzy Bubble’ written on the seat confirmed a night of cameras, lights and people hovering around me as they tried to approach the ‘Gaultier’ area.
Ossendrijver, who is absolutely lovely and quite interesting and whose work I’m fascinated by from the point of view that he is doing some amazing things to aid the evolution of designer menswear, despite Lanvin menswear collections being revered, agreed that he would never want the sort of limelight that JPG gets. A nod nod nod from me. People quivering as they spoke to Gaultier, asking for autographs, photos and a gazillion video cameras and he handled it all with plenty of jollyness and no airs and graces at all…
Lots of bad bubbles later and now the head is not good….and it is still pissing down with rain…. to flea market tomorrow I go, I promise…

Sounds exciting! Good for you. Not the hangover though. That’s no good.
How fab! All very chi chi and tres fashion.
You’ll be a grande dame before you know it only please don’t turn into Isobella Blow (the downward spiral bit)
And interesting reportage….

Posting with a hangover? Talk about dedication! Sounds like you’re having a very interesting time.
U’re great, Susie!!! LOVE you!!!!
How dare you! SB, you play the ‘Look at who I’m sitting next to’ card for as long as you like. It’s effing fabulous and you’re paving the way for the second wave of bloggers! I can only assume that your hang-over has taken grip of your better judgement…I’d be crowing from the roof-tops if I’d been perched next to JPG! Imelda says ‘blog like rock star’
sweet! question? staying one more week for the show in Antwerp?
I saw some of the collections and all I can say is it’s gonna be FABULOUS!!!
suzie,
do you have any advice for someone who is trying to get into this crazy industry we call fashion? I have a degree in textile design since finishing have interned at Mc Queen and Clare Tough. So I’ve done my share of unpaid, overworked experience. I plan to move back down in the next few months but this time I need to get paid! Would you have any advice as someone who seems to be young and very ahead with her career. oh and do you need an assistant? he he. loved the JLR post by the way.
It’s was really nice to meet you! I hope you enjoyed your belgian and finally sunny sunday!
