Made with Love

Like I said last week, I’m going through a bit of a DIY-dry patch what with…erm… there being not enough hours in the day.  It’s some bad day-pie carving I know which I will try to alleviate.  However, it doesn’t stop me from acquiring items that are obviously MADE WITH LOVE, a quality which my DIY items are often overflowing with but rather lacking in *ahem* skill.  Such is the time poor, cash rich (well…not MASSES of cash…. but in proportion to time right now…. there is definitely more of the latter…) existence that I’m living leaving me no choice but to seek out the ready-made ‘Made with Love’ items…

At least my new MADE WITH LOVE items are faring pretty well in the quality department.  This vintage bag which I first spotted on Lady Coveted (thanks Lady C for the tip-off) and immediately snapped from Etsy has this hand painted swirly design that loosely resembles a dragon.  What I love are the linear lines and the multi-coloured shading that is both on the inside, sides AND the back of the bag.  I hate neglected facets and embellishment that doesn’t go all the way round the back of dresses is a big pet peeve for instance.

Then there’s my new SS08 Michelle Lowe Holder top which is available online.  There’s beading and tulle going on in the neckline and the delicate fabric is then handprinted with a black dandelion and floral pattern that goes ever so well with the touches of yellow.  It’s sort of easy-breezy summer compressed into a top and it has the ability to handle the hot weather today with ease (i.e. no odd sweating and I felt cool temperature-wise in it…).

I promise, my time poor ways will end soon but in the meantime, is there any frickin’ way of buying a few hours?  Seriously…. name the price….I’m open for negotiation here…

  1. Those are both fabulous, but I especially love the dress. I would kill for fabric like that to get my hands on, creme and yellow flowers…
    Yum!

  2. Beautiful! Lady Coveted finds the most incredible things, it’s as if she has fairies working for her.

  3. that top is summer perfection. and i really like the soft colors on the bag. would swap time for money!

  4. i really like the look of the flower dress/shirt with the tights. it looks so nice. are they american apparel tights? i hope you are able to find more time in a day!! don’t overwhelm yourself. 🙂

  5. the design on the bag intrigues me
sorry if i hadnt visited ur blog more often.u always hav good posts!
p.s.if u can come by my blog!

  6. If there were 36 hours in a day do you think we’d all still have enough time to do what we wanted? I don’t know.

  7. Too much time gets me in trouble. I think too much, and I get the wants real bad.
When I am busy, I don’t waste energy on unnecessary things.
I am pretty good about not overbooking myself though, because it is not really healthy.
There is enough time, it is just figuring out how you really and truly want to spend it.
    I love that cute dress.

  8. Love the dress but seriously, does it not tickle around the neck and especially when it is very warm like here in NYC right now it’s 100 Farenheit, this dress would be a bit icky itchy, no??

  9. The bag is utterly divine. Soem people are blessed with fairy dust.
As for time matters – early to rise early to bed seems to work quite well but is maybe a tad dull!

  11. That bag is stunning, I’ve fallen in love with it!
With the time and money thing I figure its hard to have both. At the moment I have no time but plenty of money, in a few weeks I’m giving up my job and moving back to Scotland so I’ll have no money and plenty of time. You just can’t win!

  12. I am in love with your dress.
I keep planning on having a cusomising session in time for summer. Unfortunately my time to money ratio is quite the opposite of yours. Will post pictures on my blog if it is a success, but i don’t know if i can compete with that creation.

  13. You look great, the bag is fab and I love the new top. I like how you’ve paired the loose fitting top with the tight fitting pvc leggings.

  14. is it possible to buy slaves? minions?
oh dear… i’m having the no time and no money problem! ah the joys of starting your own business (it’s a lovely joy)
i’m really happy you got the purse and you love it! it looks even better on your blog than in the etsy shop. and i’m a big fan of long strap handbags, they are so handy.
    🙂

  15. First of all, love the top, the print is so fresh looking!
Secondly: some friend of mine and I were just talking about how great it would be if we could “buy” hours from the lazy people who do nothing but watch TV all day. How great would that be? Then we decided that’s called “having employees” and it scared us to death. Oh well, you can’t have it all I guess…

    Ha!ha!ha!ha!ha!ha!ha!ha!ha!ha!ha!ha!!!!!!!
OMG! I just got the most hideous mental image!

  17. Nice items, as always, you have such a good eye. I particularily like the bag and like yourself I hate when a pattern doesn’t go all the way around! I love that they’ve gone as far as to cover the inside too.

  18. i too wish there were more hours in a day, but you do so well considering all your commitments AND interests. i sometimes wonder if you do sleep 🙂

  19. I am so jealous of that bag!! I have a serious weakness for vintage bags.
Love the dress, what are those leggings made of (by the way your blog is making me seriously consider the purchase of leggings and hoping that I don’t look muttonish in them!)
