Wild Thing

You think that Christopher Kane S/S 09 gorilla print dress is out of my head?  Nope…. most certainly not.  Not when I've spotted two lucky gals wearing them with roaring pride.  Not when Christopher Kane took his bow for his latest show wearing an adapted version of the tee (womenswear designers doing menswear basic tee versions of their collections…good idea for all, no?)  Also, not when Tommy Ton put the idea in my head to eBay myself a gorilla tee (and there are plenty of options ranging from smiling gorilla to yawning gorilla…) and adding a pleated/pailetted skirt to the tee.

The idea of animalising clothes without resorting to actual animals or prints was further cemented in my head when I saw these sneak preview pics of Yuchi's A/W 09 collection.  I spy a wolf, a flamingo and some sort of a ram(?).  Will need to take a closer look as Yuchi will be exhibiting at Rendez Vous in Paris.  I vote for the stegosaurus to make a animalistic dress appearance.  It was my favourite dinosaur name to pronounce as a child.

  1. Love animal influence! I recently bought a wolf print t shirt, and constantly amuse myself at lunchtime with “hungry like a wolf” references!!

  2. Wow, this collection is amazing! Especially the wolf dress. And I absolutely adore your blog! I am in total agreement with the stegasaurus making its way onto the runways. I’ve just started my own blog and would greatly appreciate if you could add it to your sidebar.

    Thanks a million

  3. Can’t believe that I’m slowly being convinced that I want an animal tee too… I quite like the added fringe? feathers? On the Yuchi dresses.

  4. Loving the sunset colours on the first one, and the wolf on the second. What beautiful, unique designs…thanks for bringing it to the attention of the fashion-inept such as myself ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Wow great find! I’m partial to wolf images myself. But sounds like Tommy is giving you a DIY challenge! I hope you do it!

  6. You have a great “artistic” fashion eye. I had a lot of fun scrolling down your page, some really cool stuff here. xo

  8. Yay, Flamingos my fave!
That looks like a really comfy dress too, of the โ€šร„รฒhide a multitude of sinsโ€šร„รด persuasion.
I really like how the model is “animated” & “moves around” in the pictures, beats standing about like you’ve got a broom handle stuck up yer backside anyway & if I had a stunningly plentiful raven mane of hair like that, I’d like to swish it all around too!

  9. Not usually a safari/animal print fan… but damn they’re pretty!
I want a wolf or ostrich/flamingo?? dress now!

  10. Those are fantastic, and slightly ‘magic eye’-like, I’m not sure I would’ve spotted the ram straight away if it hadn’t been pointed out to me!
