Go Misha!

Etsy shop and accompanying blog go together like a smoosh of banana, peanut butter and thick crusty white bread.  Errr….that means they go together in a pretty swell way…at least according to me.  I feel like Etsy is in its second phase where there is less chaff and TONS of interesting designs to be found, with shops that have potential for expansion beyond Etsy.  I'm always on the lookout for the next Yokoo or I Heart Norwegian Wood; i.e. contemporary pieces that don't have an "I'm-Obviously-Handmade" sign hanging around them (the very case with my own DIY items… stick to the day job Susie…).

This morning, I came across Misha Market, an Etsy shop set up by blogger Misha of Dusty Dress.  I particularly like browsing through her items whilst simultaneously consuming her blog in another tab… ah such is the abundance of time we put towards online that with certain people, I'm following their Tweets, blog, Etsy/Ebay store, Tumblr, Chictopia profiles and what not (somebody needs to teach me to be an online multi-tasker…).

Anyway, Misha makes interesting pieces that have aesthetic leanings towards the androgynous and dark but that are ultimately wearable.  Misha's Stockholm origins is most definitely present in the vibe of her pieces.  She's also startingly young looking which again puts the likes of me to distinct shame.  She says that she has many design ideas coming up which means she will be firmly under the Bookmarks page…

  1. Oh yes what a refeshing etsy option – I’m not much for homespun oferings but if I had a Norwegain log cabin then I’d probably find a use for them. So, Mischa is a refreshing change. More Cos than cosy!

  2. p.s. i think peanut butter and jam go together better than peanut butter and bananas, but maybe i will convert, maybe.
p.p.s i like this post, will definately have to get my lazy little self onto yokoo for purrrrchasing

  3. I love Etsy but it is so hard to search for things! Somehow it doesn’t compare to eBay as far as search goes.

  4. oh my god…
knit dress with faux leather sleeves… me wants. me wants now.

  6. Andrea: Yeah….I have seen it but alas my iPod has decided to fail altogether… and in all honesty I don’t think the iPod is really the right vehicle to be reading a magazine for me…whilst I’m a tech geek in one respect, I also enjoy the physicality of a magazine….

  7. Adore her. Thanks for posting about her store. You’re always so dependable for really inspiration style.

  8. I love her clothing, but I just don’t understand why she looks so… mean. Or mad, I can’t decide.

  9. interesting…we just featured Misha in the current issue of DUJOUR Magazine…nice to see it spreading 🙂

  10. She is in my top fave Etsy sellers, I pretty much love every single thing she does.
And I definitely agree with you on the fact that Etsy has been evolving in the last year or so. When I first started selling on there people would say to me “but isn’t Etsy just for crafty stuff” to which I would reply “Etsy is a selling venue, ANY style can be on Etsy, you just have to find it”
Luckily they are working on improving their search functionality, so finding people should become easier.

  11. Teehee. Love the comparison… I do love Etsy and I enjoy the ever increasing quality. Yay! Those designs are Oh So Gorgeous too 😀
