Oh the shame… I've titled a post with an easy-to-use trend acronym. In truth, how many articles have you seen with the standfirst "Move over little black dress, the little white dress is making waves!". A white dress isn't of course making hand wave gestures Coolio 'Rollin' with My homies' style. If only. That would indeed deserve the countless LWD articles.
Still, I've been forced to use the title for the sake of a lovely gift from Yuchi which arrived yesterday, a white dress from his S/S 09 collection that is meant for beautiful movement (check out the animated gif on the homepage). However I was in reality faced with something that I hardly ever wear…a simply draped, beautifully cut elegant WHITE dress that a) shows my fetching femboxer shorts underneath (see left… yup, that's right…I have no shame… it's VP time…) and b) makes me feel like I should be sunning in St Tropez and wearing Jimmy Choo gold sandals (I don't know why they have to be gold specifically….).
To tackle the LWD problem though, I went down a route that I've lately been doing a lot, because I'm lazy and the foot hasn't properly healed yet, which is what I call "creamy preppy" That phrase doesn't really mean much and isn't particularly clever but it's literally a lot of cream dosed with some sort of nod towards "preppy". Seeing as my notions of preppy are pretty piss poor, this of course doesn't equate to anything and I can't quite describe it other than I shrug on a lot of nude/cream/whites that for some reason have accumulated in substantial quantities and doesn't require too much thought (e.g. my Fred Perry x Jessica Ogden white shirt, Issey Miyake knife pleated cream skirt, nude knee highs, nude patent ballet flats and my slouchy cream Jas M.B. bag and that's my simple, can't be arsed outfit for the day…).
In this instance, it's an Ann D jacket, an Acne scarf, a vintage straw visor, the cream H&M rose decorated wedges and that Jas M.B. bag. All at once, I feel like my name should be "Brie", I'm an "honour roll" student and I have a boyfriend called "Blake". Don't ask me why those specific things come to mind…
Very cutting edge, I always find your blog bursting at the seams with inspiration. keep it up 🙂

Hi I’m nikki from Okinawa japan, and I’ve always viewed your blog(^v^)
I like how you have your own style.
Love your outfit today!
yes but Suzie you make these combinations so much more original!
You have taken preppy and have made it cooler than preppies wear it 🙂
well done!
Kaff
I like making up names to justify outfits! the St. Tropez imagery certainly works and gold sandles would be spot on (not so much with the dress alone, but mos def in that second pic).
I like how even when you do an outfit post there is still such great writing.
I like it! It looks too sophisticated (in a cool way) to be preppy. I love the vintage straw visor
Love that white dress on you!
I don’t normally like white, but this dress looks beautiful on you (:
immense! u look so awesome! love that scarf with a passion 😀

I love how you spiced up the white dress with your scarf and bag and visor! The colour scheme is perfect! I love your blog!
you look absolutely gorgeous! and i know what you mean…better start packing those bags…:)
You got an awesome wardrobe, very cool blog and, as lux interior would say, gooooooooooood taste, but i have to say something…
that balcony where you take your photos is awful… argh.. it sometimes even makes the styling less beautiful. I wish these pictures were more careful, but maybe it’s just me.
welp, take care, keep it up!
The combination is a winner. The beige combined with the white dress keeps the outfit looking elegant yet the style is edgy and fresh. The colours alsocompliment the St Tropez sunkissed look present. Divine! If I were donning this outfit i would try and use a statement bag to give the outfit the final bit of pizzaz. Maybe a classic chanel. Perfect! Keep inspiring us Susie!
I love it when you model the clothes. This outfit looks great on you. I love the blog by the way – gives me inspiration for mine (its about hair)
If you’re not into wearing white dresses, perhaps you should change your mind…this looks fantastic.
Love love love! Your idea of preppy is the best I have ever seen, as I despise preppy because I used to go to school in an absolutely despicable super preppy atmosphere. However, I love this and would wear it in an instant. About a year ago I started my hunt for a “LWD” and I still have not found one, sigh.
Creamy preppy is grand, but that dress is dreamy on its own … hope it’ll get some stand-alone wear, too.
I love your outfit today, the straw visor is a lovely touch.
i absolutely adore that dress!
Caroline
Brie, you are so chic in white and cream!
LoL you’re hilarious, I love this post! Looking fab, Brie!
Your LWD is stunning, like how you styled it too:)
You’re absolutely right about the “Brie” and the “Blake”. Looks comfortable for a yachting lifestyle.
Look at you! You look like a celebration of Spring! Soooo pretty.
Love the outfit. The scarf is gorgeous.
Re the problem of white dresses and VP, it’s something I’ve been having a problem with at the moment (probably because white is a colour I hardly ever wear). The new Johnathan Saunders for Topshop collection has a dress which suffers this exact problem (it’s the one-shouldered one with the white panel). It’s one of those things where I haven’t decided if I love it or don’t actually like it once it’s on, but either way the white panel shows anything you try and wear under it, no matter what colour. The only way I could make it work better was to stick a pair of black tights under it, leaving a line at waist level, but still an improvemnt on the VP.
I’ve gone on a bit there, what I meant to ask was- is there any way to make a dress with that kind of VP going on work?
What a gorgeous dress, and oh my! You styled it to perfection with the visor, scarf, jacket…love love love that outfit Brie 😉
xx
Introduce me to Blake’s friend Chase.
I like the subtle ruffle..
xx-LJ from SOS!
i like the white and cream together. great scarf.
and i love the clueless reference.
love the look! although, lol when I saw the visor, i thought it was so chinese rather than preppy. I just wish all the asian ladies looked so stylish with the humongous visors.
Loving the shape!
Absolutely gorgeous!! This makes me yearn for spring…
you layered it up all foxy.i love it. i love your visor. i WANT that visor!
Haha, you make me giggle with your “fem boxer” comment!
That dress is so gorgeous though and you look FANTASTIC!
I can see what you mean, but this dress looks really stunning on you…
